What is this number?
I tried to copy it but I'm only phone yall. Be gentle
I am not aware of different width AM's on the 1996. Here are two comparisons and they appear to be the same.

The 1996 Wide AM has never been found. Years ago, Billy Crawford announced he had one, and then when it was to be published, he told the world it had been stolen.
I dont think one exists, but you never know.

Now you tell me….I’ve only checked the 96 for ddo. Thanks!
Whenever I check rolls of pennies that I get from the bank, I always check the 1995's for a DDO. Never heard of 1996 DDO before this thread.

Congrats - you found a normal Lincoln cent - WAM's are from 1998-1999-2000 - but who knows - Have fun and keep looking

What do yall think??
A link is the only way I could get them on here
Looks normal to me.
@NILESLAVE... Welcome aboard. The picture is quite small... However, you can copy and paste to this thread, or drag and drop on a computer. Try adding a picture here, and also a comparative 1996 close AM... Cheers, RickO

the "FG" is a "FAR FG"
the left descender of the "M" is crooked towards the inside of the "M"
and the easiest tell of all is the "A" in "STATES" is not centered.
It is a close AM cent
OK bro. I'll show you if I can get a better close up. It also has the strike through and slight tilt of the memorial building.
What is a "slight tilt of the memorial"? Are you talking about a die rotation. There is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NO WAY the memorial is tilted.
... well, there was an earthquake a few years ago that damaged the Washington Monument...

My bad yall, kinda got pics all at once. Still the new guy homies
It does look like the "AM" on these 2 pennies are different... What do you think, Forum Wallas?
As previously stated, there is some issue with the left leg of the M.
The other markers - Far FG, no serifs on G in FG, and the uncentered A in STATES all confirm this is a normal Close AM with some anomaly at the AM
Thanks! I lost track of what had been pointed out or not, because of the baffling variety and various quality of the photos, and zillions of links to Facebook... 🙄
Emerald, is that you taking those photos?
IT's NOT a WAM - Jesus Christ - what is it gonna take?????????????????

I figured this shiz out fellas. (Pictures and all). This one really looks like it if you hold it man
The following site lists the characteristics. You should be able to easily see that it is not the same as the WAM. Notice that the leg on the A on your coin appears shorter than normal. Probably due to a hit or other type of damage (the coin is showing signs of zinc rot)

I think most here have concluded you are trolling. Whatever.
Clearly a close AM. It doesn't matter if the M is touching the A or if there is a little space, the M has to be centered between the A and the E for it to be a wide AM. If it is closer to the A than the E then it is a close AM.
Definitely not a wide AM variety. Thanks for the pictures... Cheers, RickO
Looks like a close AM but I heard 1996 wide AM do or did exist.
Bill Crawford said he found one about 10 years ago but I read that it was stolen with other coins after a coin show. Supposedly the crooks followed him with a tracker and stole the coins when he stopped somewhere, Here is an article about the 96 wide AM. Is Billy Crawford still alive, haven't seen much from him in a long time ?

What are your thoughts on this? I keep going back and forth on it…! I have not taken it anywhere for a second opinion.
Look at the initials FG, this is a close AM example even though there is a spread between the A&M.
@Coinscratch exactly why I keep going back and forth on it. Appreciate the feedback.
Yep, wide AM=close FG
1996 Wide AM cent does NOT exist by the way, at least none have been verifiably examined. The "discovery" was prematurely announced, and the researcher soon announced that the coin had been "stolen."
A shame. Maybe?
