1914-D Lincoln Cent, (Altered 44-D)

Pretty good job of tooling on the 4.
Two much space between the 9 & the 1 (Its as though the Mint Mark was in the middle of the date and it fail out)
The mint mark is the wrong font for a genuine 14-D (its to open and wind inside the D)

Kind of reminds me of that Shield Nickel pattern posted earlier today by @retirednow with the dot between the date.
This is one of the easiest to spot alterations. Unfortunately, they continue to fool a segment of collectors even after many decades of warnings about this alteration.
Coins like that are like free advertising for our host.
Well, now comes the task of getting the listing for this altered coin to be taken down.

No matter how good a job of tooling the 4 - they just can't do anything about the wide gap between the 9 and the "1" it leaves.

Good work getting it pulled... and thanks for the pictures - they are a big help for new collector members. Cheers, RickO
Once again, @MarkW63
Nice job.
Keep up the good work.

Kennedys are my quest...
Over the years, I can't imagine how many of these I found just sorting wheat bags. The tooling usually wasn't so nice though. That gap was normally pretty scruffy.......
Real cent ... altered date.
Give the seller credit, he ended the sale
