I have a friend who collects only coins with milk spots ...
What is the allure? That’s the wrong question - the real question is why are you all so crazy?
Because collecting coins is not rational - we are all a little nuts to spend this much time and money on coins - and they answer? We are all just a little crazy 😄

I got some coins for your friend but him know the price of milk has gone up!

Let me start by saying to each their own. Everyone is free to collect whatever they want.
That out of the way I’d really like to understand the allure of collecting a series of coins (Morgan’s, Franklin’s, Washington quarters, etc. ) that are all BU and the same grade?
I recently finished a set of Franklins. They all 64 or 65 but other than a few BU coins most have some measure of toning that differentiates them. From

I’d add more but you get my point. Enlighten me.
Right here is where you are implicitly calling your toned coins to be alluring. You ask what the "allure" is to white coins and then highlight your toned coins. The implication is clear. Nit pick this all you want. You are officially the only member of this forum that I have on "ignore".

To be fair, it's possible he really doesn't think toned coins are alluring and that he's just indiscriminate in his purchases.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Lol. Given what he considers a logical argument, that may be likely. I retract my inference of his implication.

You can read whatever you like into the post but I never said anything about me set being alluring. Again, you can imply whatever you'd like but I never referred to my set as "alluring".
Do I like the coins? Yes, one of the reasons I like them is the variety. I don't seen that variety in a set of high grade BU coins and ask others to share there interest and attraction in collecting them. You can read into that question whatever you like.
Now how much did you sell those Morgans you were hyping for?

I'm discriminate. I don't like all toned coins. Some are downright ugly and I would characterize them as Ricko would, environmentally damaged. I realize my set would not be alluring to other. That's fine and I'm not offended by or insulted by it.
On the flip side I don't find a set of high grade BU coins alluring and I asked the question in the OP to understand why others might. Some have considered merely asking the question as being an insult. What can I tell you. I asked the question to get some insight from the folks that cared to respond with more than "it's my right to collect whatever I want" as if that has ever been at issue.

Rereading the thread, I stopped when I got up to 20 posters who offered their opinions about why they like untoned coins. I'm guessing some people will never get it.

Well if you stopped at post 20 you missed out on some post by others that chimed in on why they like collecting BU coins or like collecting both toned and BU coins.

BALONEY!
I disagree. I think it's clear some people will never get it.

I think some people won't even know that you're taking about them.

Just exactly what are you trying to sell?
A bunch of coins (not here). Some are toned, some aren't.

Oh, cmon. You can be ugly or uglier.
I suppose, but if you stop your evaluation when you reach the "ugly" threshold, you never really get into that.
