Hi guys,
Sad day! :'(
58 yrs. ago.
One most of us will never forget. Here is a tribute thread for our dear President, John Kennedy. We certainly love him and of course all his coins from the Mint. Post a John coin please, for his tribute. Thanks guys. :/

This coin sez it all about John and mrs. Kennedy making a great decision for her husband's special coin.

"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

A gift from my good friend Harry (and our very own @shortnock), who worked for the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. He covered the breakfast at the Hotel Texas in Ft. Worth, the arrival at Love Field, was in the motorcade on one of the press buses (and heard the shots), and ended up at Parkland. The top image are some of the photos he took that day. The bottom is one of Harry photographing JFK in the crowd at the Hotel Texas. It was taken by his brother who was also a photographer with the Telegram. Harry is above the crowd looking at one of his cameras, up and to the left of Kennedy.

Another interesting piece from my JFK Assassination ephemera collection. Invoice from the Southern Rock Island Plow Company in Dallas. Their building would change owhership several times over the years, eventually becoming the Texas School Book Depository in 1963. The building can be seen in the vignette:

Original Klien's Sporting Goods ad from the February,1963 issue of 'American Rifleman' magazine. Lee Harvey Oswald responded to this ad and ordered his Mannlicher-Carcano rifle (left panel, third from top). He filled out the order coupon using his assumed name A. Hidell:

And, one of my favorite JFK halves (wish I still owned it) ANACS MS67:

Yes, I still remember that day well. It was a Friday, and my mother was driving me to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for my weekly piano lesson. I remember my old first grade teacher comparing this the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Here are a few Kennedy presidential campaign items.

A classic 7/8 inch campaign button.

Not all JFK photos were flattering. Collectors call this "the bug-eye portrait."

    Inauguration Day button.

Inaugural medal in silver. The mintage was high (off the top of my head, 7,500) for these because there was a big effort to sell them. They still sell for a little over melt as a result.

This piece, which refers to Kennedy's award winning book, "Profiles in Courage," was issued when he was running for the vice presidential nomination at the 1956 Democratic Convention. Lucky for Kennedy, he lost. Only one vice presidential nominee on the losing side came back to win the presidency. That was Franklin Roosevelt who lost in 1920, but came back to win in 1932.

    Wow! What awesome paraphernalia!
    Thanks ;)

    Thanks Joey.
It is a really nice looking coin.
Would love to get a 67 DCAM AH.
I have had the opportunity to get one in a MS67 CAM but would rather a 68 so I continue the search and hunt.

Like others here I never had the opportunity to meet JFK, but I did take these photos of his successor and somewhere I have a picture o one of his brothers who came to my. University to speak.

OK, I found the photo that I took of JFK's brother in the late 1960s. Can anyone identify for sure if it was Bobby or Teddy?

Here is a photo that I took of Ted Kennedy during his 1980 presidential campaign. He was speaking at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. His sister Eunice can be seen standing directly behind him.
