09SVB, who agrees with me, opinions PLEASE.

Mint mark is wrong font, its to FAT throughout, it looks like the Pillsbury dough girl gave birth to it.
The "N" in united looks to have the deep cut valleys.
Then, there is what looks like a counterfeit die chip marker about half way up the inside line of the left wheat ear, though it times past they've been a little more pronounced (more bold).
I can't make out where the periods are in the designers initials.
But, I'm going with a phony.

The entire obverse is off, especially the fat "S" mint mark as you pointed out.
Also the rims look wrong.
The color and wear patterns are also abnormal for a 1909-S V.D.B.
I don't think It is not an altered date or added mint mark.
But I think the entire coin is a fabrication (not genuine).
The coin looks slabbed in the first pic and looks raw in the second pic. Is it two different coins? Hard pass.

Lots of things wrong with it ... as mentioned. Weird thick rims too.
Looks like a full fabricated fake....Cheers, RickO
Report it.
It is a fake in my opinion.
I also don't like the "B" in the initials.
The bar looks straight and not angled.

If I'm 100% proof positive I've been doing that, but there has been a couple of times when I did that and the threads went totally wrong, so I'm trying to be careful and learn from those mistakes.
The seller states in the description that they don't know if the coin is genuine or not, what you see is what your going to get.
Even with that statement if its a counterfeit as I understand it, its still against ebay rules.

Late to the party but as mentioned - thick flattened mintmark and it's placement is way too far to the right. Pulse the N on the reverse has the deep valleys to boot........
