1972ddo Lincoln cent-will it straight grade?

Do you think this 1972 ddo will straight grade? I am concerned about the scratch on the obverse.
Thank you in advance.

My guess is no. Pretty severe scratch and gouge.

Very unlikely to straight grade. Almost certainly a details holder.
Nope is my vote.
I would say no... details grade for damage. Cheers, RickO
Sorry to say no on a straight grade.
Staple scratch?

Send it in as an error: "struck through". MS64 +.
And even if it fails ... it is what it is.
Bold play that would be worth a shot if error grading wasn't so pricey. Shame its a cool coin

Likely not.

No chance. It's large and right in the center of the obverse. Would you buy that as problem free?

I'd get it in a holder regardless. It looks AU-58. Too bad the scratch is in a prime focal area.

Very awesome coin, despite the scratch.
I suggest what TwoCoins2aside (Joe) said.
That's how good that variety is.
It still will sell, if interested in flipping?
Great coin, dude.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.that is rough. a nice coin otherwise.
ChrisH821: I didn’t know it had the scratch when I bought it.
I think the 1972ddo is a great coin that goes well with my 1955ddo. I always regretted getting rid of my 1972 ddo rd ms65 so I decided to get another coin when I found one.
I didn’t see the scratch through the flip. I know that’s hard to believe but I didn’t have a loop and my aging eyes didn’t see it, major oops on my part.
Regardless, I did a trade for the coin and if I wanted to I think I could get my $250- back but what matters is I like the clear doubling on the coin.
It’s funny because I always have a loop with me because one never knows and for some reason today I didn’t.
🤔
Not a big deal but its loupe not loop. Nice coin
Sometimes you just miss stuff on coins... happens to all of us
I once missed a sizeable wheel mark on the reverse of an otherwise gem peace dollar

Yours is an FS-101 which is the one that counts and the doubling for all of them will be the same. I would suggest getting your money back if you can and invest in another. This is not one of the super expensive Lincoln major varieties. Mine is a PCGS MS66RD CAC and I only paid around $900.
I don't agree with the idea of attempting to get your money back. If you did a sight-seen transaction with someone else then the transaction is over. If they will take it back for a full or partial refund then that is great, but you really don't have a leg to stand on if you take it back and claim "I didn't see the scratch when I examined it in-hand".

Great variety regardless if you do indeed keep it.

Tomb: My mistake, I have no intention of trying return this coin. I think I will resell and look for a clean (prefer graded) coin. 🙂
