1892 O Barber Quarter for the type set. Guess the grade?

I just picked this up as an upgrade to my type set album.
It's raw so no wrong answers!

Lol, when I said there are no wrong answers, you still got it wrong.

unc details cleaned?
AU58...
Honestly with a decent loop, I can't see any wear in hand. There are no hairlines but the photo's do make a little bit of friction" stand out on the obverse. It's my opinion that it is uncirculated.

So, you don't think it is cleaned?
BHNC #203
I can't see evidence of a cleaning unless folks are concerned with the tarnish looking suspect. I put it up here for opinion, so let's hear it.

no, from the cheek up thru LIBERTY.
It looks shiny to me.
Toning is always acceptable to me, except of course AT
BHNC #203
If it is unc then 64 or 65 hard to tell with dark toning

how come none of the stars are toned? Hard to say looking at this coin.
It is a MS coin that was cleaned long ago and has since retoned. Note the abundance of hairlines visible in the photo of the obverse.
Looks ~MS62 to me. I think it’s had a wipe in the past based on obverse hairlines and the toning pattern but i think it would probably straight grade. The strike looks quite weak but I don’t see any luster breaks from these photos that indicate wear.
You can laugh at me, too, if you want, but the images you have shared look like an AU Barber quarter that has previously been cleaned.

I see a little rub on the shield and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

There are breaks in the vertical lines on the shield on the reverse, and the horizontal lines lack full detail on the viewer's right. Coin has retoned and I don't like it's look. The neck and face screams 'cleaned.' I'd say AU 55, maybe AU 58 cleaned. Barber coins in / near Unc. aren't difficult to grade, though you need to know the areas which are typically weakly struck on coins minted in New Orleans.

Based on the look of the eye, it looks to have a provenance to the Tareyton Cigarette TV and magazine adds from the 1960s... Ms. Liberty looks as if she would rather fight than switch...
On a slightly more serious note... it really is hard to gage an accurate assessment based on the images even if there are no wrong answers.

Interesting range of responses. I do appreciate them, though I'm taking my coin and going home in a huff.
Maybe someday I'll have it graded. Until then, it looks pretty good in my type set album.

AU 58
Good type set coin. I am also of the crowd that it was cleaned and retoned and that the cap, cheek and neck are examples of multiangular hairlines. The dies also look to have been mildly rusted as the characteristic pimpling is seen on the obverse especially.
Cleaned coins frequently show such toning as has been pointed out. I would venture AU details, cleaned also.
Well, just Love coins, period.
ElC,,
You beat me to it. Thankfully I don't grade these for a living. 92's usually have a strong strike. The shield Is weak on this jewel.
The obv rim looks smooth at around 3oclock. The eagles claws and arrow feathers look worn.
The darkness of the toning and where it is located makes this coin suspect to me.
And it looks to me that it has a dose of silicon i.e. coin care.
Technically it could be unc but I'd see it as a 55. It's a difficult coin to put a number on.

It strikes me as lightly polished at some time from the pictures. AU Details here.

Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
Looks like an AU coin.... cleaned in the past and re-tarnished, though not pleasantly.... Likely due to improper rinse after cleaning. Cheers, RickO
Tough to tell from the images....looks messed with and has since retoned unattractively in my opinion (just based in the photos).
Not a coin I would want unless it was discounted enough to allow me to overlook it.
