Picked this up at an auction today….unfortunately there is a very slight dent on the edge…but still an interesting coin give it is almost 280 years old. Is the dent enough for a details grade? If not what would you grade this?

    Without the dent: VG.

With the dent: VG details. It should not be straight graded but with coins of that age, who knows?

    All glory is fleeting.

I am kind of torn between high VG, low Fine details. Not a bad coin for one of these really. If yo are interested, the variety is 4.59-Gc.4, which is listed as an R3.

Likely details due to the rim... But still a nice coin... Cheers, RickO
