I found this coin while clearing up some property, I realize it's probably not real, but one never knows as they say.

It looks like a fake - LIBERTY and the date should not be so sharp, when the fields are pitted like that.
The "Confederate" half dollar was mostly created after the Civil War - many were made.

Reverse legend rises too high from the plane of the coin.
Don't feel bad. Even John Ford, Jr. couldn't authenticate an example on sight (article in upcoming Gobrecht Journal on this subject).
Copies of the Confederate Half Dollar were sold at Civil War battle sites. I bought this one in the 1990's at the Kennesaw Mountain Battle site.

I just took a good look at the edge and it almost looks like it was two pieces pressed together, really strange.
That's the mold line where the two halves of the mold came together.
