When collecting circulated Bust, Seated Liberty or Barber Dimes, do you prefer coins raw or slabbed?

The_Dinosaur_Man's wonderful album for Seated Liberty Dimes made me ask this question.

I put them in albums and I will take them out of slabs if I have too. Raw coins have always been my favorite, but then I am an old school collector. I collected many years before slabs were available. I enjoy coins more when they are in albums-personal preference.
In addition to authenticity, having the grade provided by a top TPG like PCGS increases the chance of getting fair value when the time comes to sell, whether by me or by my heirs (I left written instructions for them on how best to sell my collection when I pass, including whom to contact). Much less chance of the buyer claiming the grade is less than the grade you bought it at.
Having it in the holder also protects it from damage when my clumsy fingers drop it! lol, but so very true!

My collecting “Pride & Joy” is my PCGS Registry Dansco 7070 Set:

Both!
I’m “both” too. I like to collect slabbed type set circulated coins, including the dimes mentioned, in high circulated grades. But I also collect each of those by series raw in albums.

Either or
While I no longer actively buy coins I would prefer "raw" for the series mentioned. I collected them in the past and know how to grade them. I like album collecting.
Depends on the condition, rarity and value.
agreed, both!

It would depend entirely on the coin..... Finding a coin I like may happen either way.... and I would make my decision, not on the fact that it was or was not slabbed, but on the coin's attributes. The exception would be, if it were a rare coin, then perhaps having it authenticated would be a tipping point. Cheers, RickO
Slabbed only.
