What is going on with this coin? Cleaned or PL?

Just came across this coin, and I am uterly confused by it. Is it cleaned or is it a pl? the pics make it seem to be too good to be true...

Sometimes, you can obtain clues, by viewing other items listed by the seller.

I am new at this, but the scratches in the field from and back make me lean to it having been cleaned at some point (not dipped). Could be wrong, but others will chime in.
and sometimes, just a glance is all you need. smh
cleaned fields with nice <cough, cough> "halo's" around the devices. Added frost too? Maybe.

Looks like both. Started out as a prooflike, then someone decided to clean it - it may have tarnished.
Too bad - it was a nice dollar.
And that, too.😉

That’s one of those “California Proofs”. That’s not a good thing

Appears to have been doctored to appear more captivating to beginners in silver dollar collecting. Hairlines all over it. Hard pass for me.

Not a California Proof (as those are of better quality and more deceptive than the OP's coin).
Altered- not that well either.
The 1888 Morgan is a counterfeit.
The other offers are either nefarious or of inconsequential collector appeal.

That would be a pass for me.... and I like CC Morgans... (though not in the market for any now)... Cleaned and certainly not a proof as listing suggested. Cheers, RickO
