I have handled a total of 4 different Large Cent obverse die caps. The 3 different ones that I have posted links and pictures in this thread, and a fourth which is also dated 1856. It is not quite as deep as these three are, but is obviously an obverse die cap and I think it is in a NGC AU 58 holder. I will try to dig out images.

That would be great Mike. I wasn't able to find a matching coin in the Heritage or Stack's archives. Please post if you find it.
That's INSANE and gorgeous! Ron Landis and Joe Rust are a great team!
I'll just have to ask how many strikes did it take???

Here's one that IIRC a forum member found while helping a museum do inventory. It was listed as a broadstrike, but it might be a die cap.

How many Large Cent Caps are there? It's great to have your archives to keep track of these.
Is there a good census of these? Do error coin collectors do censuses? If not, it seems like a worthwhile endeavor.

Gallery Mint 1793 Flowing Hair CENT , A privately minted screw press die cap 1c replica.
I actually know how many capped die strikes it took to create it.
The Vine & Bars edge details preserved from correct first strike are awesome.

Also, is this a Lindy Special order?
Not a Lindy Special Order, instead was lucky owner's Special Order
As to strikes, I'd be cool with a few days of guesses.
Here's a clue:
I actually have all but 15 to 20 of them.

Very cool.
Remember these two photos I posted above? Imagine having a full set of 1796 GMM coins that are all caps? That would be insane! Did anyone do it?
Wartime Die Caps
Here are two Civil War die caps that are really interesting!
Anyone know the provenance on these?
