What Is This?

Hey, I wanted to know what type of coin this, how old it is, or if it's even a coin at all. It looks to me to be like a colonial coin or medallion.     There's a neat and well executed hole so it may be some kind of medal that was suspended from a ribbon. The pic is quite clear but I can't make out the design on it. A pic of the other side would help.

    I would call that a tool check token. In olden times, companies provided the tools that workers used. That token tells who has it. Peace Roy
