A 1971-S Eisenhower proof dollar I took out of the packaging because it was toning too much....

Put it in my coin cabinet and forgot for the last umpteen years and now its so crazy toned they would body bag as AT
Oh well......it really is pretty, Or at least it was before and left it in for too many years. Do you think it stand a chance and grading?
It does have several large gashes.

Post a cellphone pic of both sides
Wow @coinsarefun ....great piece!
Would likely get "QC" from PCGS but an easy sell raw, I would think.
Its a new phone to me and no light to show the toning but this is the best I can do,

I'd rather just keep it. I enjoy opening up my coin cabinets shelf and looking at the the nice hunks of silver. Some toning, others as Snow White as the day it went it.

I do not think there is anything that will not slab today from a color standpoint. The more questionable the better.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I wanted some quickie pics
Probably QC it.
The reverse looks nice

Meh,........ no worries, gave me a lesson on learning my new iPhone. It actually works well, better than my old one.

As a collector of toned Ikes, if it was a 73S silver proof, I would submit it, and see if it straight grades. I have a fair completely collection of toned Ikes, but not a 73S silver proof...they are likely uncommon as a toned coin in a straight graded slab.

I like it but have to admit, I'm on the QC side also.

You need to reword your title to '71-S'
Definitely a 71. I kinda like the toning. I dont think its worth the grading fees with the large scratch on the cheek and some other marks.

@coinsarefun.... While I am not a fan of tarnish Stef, since it is your coin, I am sure it is not AT - though not sure what our hosts would say. Cheers, RickO
I like the reverse as well
Grade it - or sell it as is, there are some people who think rainbow toning is worth paying extra for. I dont know if theres much premium for it, but it would make an interesting coin to own. The trouble is the grading for a 71-S Ike proof might make it a more expensive proposition from the cost of owndership point of view for you. I would at least put it in a capsule where it will stop toning further.
You know darn well that if it grades QC and you sell it, you'll see it on eBay in a graded holder within one grading turnaround period.

Oh yeah I would send it.
It has value raw also.
Wow, that's Fun!
I assume you prefer raw coins to slabbed coins for day to day purposes. Keep it and enjoy it until you are thinking of selling it, and then give it a shot.
U.S. Type Set
On second thought, Get it graded - and sell for the toining alone!
You nailed it Sy. I like to have a coin cabinet with all different kinds of semi to very inexpensive coins, mostly silver.
I do enjoy opening the trays(drawers) and taking "stock" Its more fun than most any thing I can think of!
Sometimes they tone most stay the same but each coin is different and its just a joy to look at.
Then all the expensive stuff is slabbed and packed away in the safe an only get to look at the images.

The good news is if you decide to sell it sometime in 2023 you can send it in now for grading.

I love the color on the reverse especially.
Enjoy it!

ya see? you need to sell the coin, not the holder? ... what do I know, but those do make for pretty picutres..
I Like Ikes...
Sure, perhaps it will slab, but will it grade?
Think my Morgan will grade today?
Nice looking coin!
Do you think it would have helped if you sent it in for grading in the cellophane?
.
Probably, I took it out thinking to submit but forgot years ago.

They don't come in cellophane from the mint. It was a Brown Box Ike And I don't see why PCGS would call this questionable when most are heavily toned and even more hazy. I like this one !
An attractive coin to me.
Send it in.
If you do not like the results, crack it out and sell it raw.

Kennedys are my quest...
It should grade at any service with all the windowsill experiments making it into slabs these days.
Heck it should CAC too then off to Great Collections for one of a couple of dueling fools to pay you $10K.
As long as I’m posting questionable toning from my cabinet I have this one too.
.
No crazy toning yet prolly won’t make it into a graded slab.

CAC doesn't evaluate Brown Ikes.
