Buffalo Nickel 2 feather question

VetterVetter Posts: 884 ✭✭✭✭✭

I found a 1913 S T1 2 feather. The problem is that it’s dateless. Is this still collectible as you know the date by the rev? Is this a common one and any quess on the value? Thanks

Wow! Nice catch, dude. Both the 2- Feather and the "s" Mint mark, 1913s type 1.
Sure, it's acid dated but there is a market out there for the acid dates. Check the bay. You'll see. Pretty good shape as well. The 2 feather 1913's are not too common. Nice find! ;)

    Correction:

Dateless, NOT Acid. Sorry, guys. :o

Yep. Looks good to me. 1913-S 2F is among the known 2 Feather varieties. Here's the list compiled by Koynekwest"

It's one of the scarcer dates so I think it's worth keeping.

What makes you think it was acid dated? I've seen many acid dated Buffs, but this one does not appear to have had nic-o-date applied or other acid. Just curious. As you know it is a 1913 S T1 Buff, there would be no reason to acid date the coin. JMO

I don't see any acid treatment either.

It's not acid dated. It's dateless.

"Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody" lyrics come to mind.

But anyway I agree - no acid, just dateless. :/

    I just noticed that’s it’s also missing the F.

All the '13-S Var 1 2 feathers I've seen also lack the designer's initial.

Nice find... Certainly worth keeping... Easily authenticated though dateless. Cheers, RickO

    Nice find!
Value? I might recommend some auction house history searches to see if there has been anything similar.
I’d start with Heritage and Ebay, perhaps Great Collections too.

I have never heard of a sale for a dateless '13-S-1. Nothing for the Denver Mint variety either.
