Which sports city has the greatest mount rushmore??

craig44craig44 Posts: 10,543 ✭✭✭✭✭

lets choose one from each major sport. I think there are 13 cities that would qualify.

I am, of course, going to choose my local big city, Boston

Tom Brady, Bobby Orr, Ted Williams, Larry Bird.

2 of those have a legitimate argument as GOAT of their sport.

what do you think?

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

You could also interchange these four names as well:
    Bill Russell
    David Ortiz
    Pedro Martinez
    Ray Bourque

My top four would be Brady/Russell/Orr/ Williams

Great thread. I wish I could add Buffalo. They do have some stars.
Johnny Bench played for the Bisons
OJ Simpson that’s all I’m gonna say about him. Grudens gone from history. Simpsons still on the Bills wall of fame. Doh
    Jim Kelly
    Jack Kemp
    Gil Perreault

We had a basketball ball team
    Bob McAdoo
And some college stars who made it
    Bob Lanier
    Khalil Mack

    Best I can do. 😔👎🥲

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Boston was not the first city to pop into my head, but I think they win. And I think all four of the names you picked have a legitimate argument for GOAT of their sports.

They aren't close to winning, but I'll do St. Louis:

{Dan Dierdorf, Roger Wehrli, Larry Wilson} pick one
    Brett Hull
    Stan Musial
    Bob Pettit

For those of you who don't remember/never heard of Roger Wehrli, Roger Staubach called him the greatest CB he ever faced. He may have been right about that, too.

This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

I considered Grange and for me Halas is the better choice for the individual that did the most for the Bears franchise. Grange was legendary... more so at Illinois. I also considered Payton as he was the franchise for years. But does that really match the accomplishments of Halas? Keep in mind the number of NFL championships the Bears won under Halas. He coached for 40 seasons and compiled a record of 318-148-31.

Banks is Mr. Cub and always will be

As for Cleveland, seems Otto Graham and Paul Brown are worthy of mention. While Jim Brown is a great choice for obvious reasons, what the Browns accomplished in the 1946-1955 time frame was amazing.

I edited my above list to have it be players who played their whole career in the city.

Otherwise, you can include Babe Ruth and Wayne Gretzky since they played for NY teams in their career.

Easy winner IMO. You could even cheat a little and take ownership of Babe Ruth since Boston is the team that produced him.
