I wonder if these came via Coin and Bullion Reserves in Panama City?
They are down to only having 12 in stock now.
Before Larry Lee died, he had at least 24 of them.

That car pic is most interesting! Imagine cruising down Main Street with a honey straddling the middle waving a ten gallon hat yelling “ye haw”! :D

The HR Saint is on my Bucket List. Even if I sold/traded all of my coins, I might squeak by with a decent example.

You would think that for the car to be owned by Roy Rogers that it would have a little more decoration to it. ;)

Love those pistols. Wonder if they double as fog lamps?

Is dumping 11 of those on the market all at once a good strategy?

See my earlier post….Coin and Bullion Reserves had over two dozen on the market for awhile, and still show 12 in inventory.
Whether these 11 were bought from them by NEN, or are on consignment to them, or are a whole other hoard, I don’t know. But the point is, they have been available in the market place in bulk quantities for some time.
But, I agree with the concept that part of selling “rare coins” at these price levels is maintaining the belief that the customer is buying something special. Seeing them offered this way diminishes that.

Knowing a little bit about Larry Lee, he was quite wealthy, and I’m guessing he didn’t care whether he sold any or not. He just liked owning and showing them. Tying up working capital in two dozen HR Saints was not a major concern.

CoinFacts calls it the highest priced coin for its rarity (or at least in the top 3).
I’d still love one. I don’t count as part of the “demand” side because I’m not in a position to play in that sandbox…but apparently enough people are to keep the prices up there.

Both CAC's are sold and only 4 of the 11 are left. Three are 64's and one is a 63. Not bad after just a few days.

I picked up a high relief saint just recently (not from northeast).

First, I don't think anyone disputes that it is a beautiful coin. It's amazing to hold one in hand next to a "regular" saint and see the design as envisioned.

As a gold type collector I thought I might get one of these eventually down the road, at some point when the perfect coin and perfect deal fall into my lap. Maybe prices will come down since they are not all that rare, etc.

I don't think I would say I got tired of waiting... it's just a coin that jumps out and grabs you. It felt worth the $$ and I changed my mind about needing to find a unicorn example to pull the trigger. The label on the holder feels less important on this one. Why wait?

Great looking coin. Why does the slab label say "Flat Ed."? Shouldn't it say "Flat Rm."? It's the rim that's flat rather than the edge which is lettered. You never hear of a HR Saint as having a "wire edge". It's always called a "wire rim" on a HR Saint with this feature..

Dunno! Just opened my coinfacts app and it actually says wire edge / flat edge when you open the High Relief Saint category. I guess edge and rim are interchangeable in this case.

Very interesting. I think the old school designation on the holder of edge rather than rim adds character. Agree, with you that when you look at a high relief Saint next to the low relief ones there just isn’t any comparison. It’s a work of sculptural art.
