Error question

HalfDimeDudeHalfDimeDude Posts: 1,206 ✭✭✭✭✭

A dealer friend of mine asked me about this specimen. I'm more into varieties than errors. So I'll put it out here to see if anyone can shed some light. He was wondering what value or premiums this specimen may have.

I have no idea as to value but that one has a "wow" factor that should generate a significant premium.

Nice coin. Hard to value error coins. I would buy that one at the right price.

Nice. Several hundred is my wild guess.

I would think that error collectors would pay a significant premium for that coin. Why not try to PM Fred Weinberg for an estimate. Cheers, RickO

    Photos aren't the best, but
    I would say it's a $300-$400 retail item.

    Interesting coin.
It took me a few seconds to decode what was the label saying. Hope I am right.
    If not please correct me.
    IMO:
F/O is a flip over strike
    D/S is a double strike
O/C is an off center strike by 20%

My point exactly. I thought....gosh... maybe errors would cure my doldrums. Bought a few. Looked at them a couple times.
    Hmmmm.....
Well, they ARE more interesting than the coins that get run over in parking lots.
But I just can't work up any passion for them.
    So..... I kept ....one.

Ah well, each to his own. :(

Moderns are generally boring unless there is a spectacular error  but old gold with an spectacular error... is quite a spectacle!
