The 2021 CC Morgan is Beautiful...Pictures and Story included...

I was invited today to see Mint Director David Ryder and Nevada Congressman Mark Amodei present the first minted CC Privy Dollar to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. The pictures are terrible as lighting and conditions were not good. I will say this...it is beautiful. Congressman Amodei brought a PCGS 1893 CC MS62 to compare the two for luster and we were quite surprised. My wifes' first comment was "where are all the cheek marks?". Anyhow, rumor has it they will be out next month. Take care...CC

It does not look like a bullion coin...just my two cents.

👍 I’ve got 20 of those. The guy that owns them will be glad to hear he’ll have his coins soon.

Hey hey hang in there. They will be available. Just start a little fund for it. Now. Ok get your special container and move the mountain a little at a time. This gives you 6 months or so to make sure you feel the same. If you do then start at the BST. Look for what you want and wait til you see it. I like eBay because I can check latest prices and take a look around.
    Enough!
I am encouraging you because you have shown some very good opinions and answers. Now the next 6 months will help you settle in and become more confident 🙏🐈

No...I don't think it looked cheap at all. The pictures are terrible...I am between cameras and used my wife's new phone. Looks like a nice business strike, however it doesn't look exactly like the originals. I was quite pleased. More rumors...sounds like an on going series. Take care...

@CCDollar - Is it on display at the Nevada State Museum now? I need to head into town. If it is on display, I'll stop in and have a look.

As I was told: This coin was minted on the press to be used in the production. Congressman Amodei and Director Ryder were present. Congressman Amodei pressed the "button" so to speak to mint the coin. It was (and they will be) struck three times. The mint operator wore cotton gloves during the process. O.K. That's it...carry on...

The coin was not on display today. However...I bet if you call the CC Mint they will advise you. Carson City is a small town.

OK why are these considered Carson City issues? Is the original coin press there at the museum being used to mint them? (I had understood it was not being used for large size coins anymore due to stress on the equipment.)

Also I don’t see a cc mint mark on the subject coin.

why indeed. they were minted in philly.

word is that the mint investigated coining there but just moving a press would cost $1Mil

Also I don’t see a cc mint mark on the subject coin.

it is a Privy Mark and is located where the CC would be

Thank you for the sneak peek. Looking forward to it.
Could manage to only get two of the CC's and three of the O's before the site went haywire and hence quickly completed the transaction before I lost whatever was already in the cart.

Thanks for the early peek at one.... I have one coming.... Got it to add to my CC Morgan set... True, not minted in CC, but since it would not be possible (cost), it will suffice. Cheers, RickO

Privy mark coins are tribute coins. The V75 was a tribute to the end of WW2. In this case a tribute to the Carson City and New Orleans Mint. However, the CC and O privy marked coins were actually minted In Philadelphia. I like them and also believe they will be a nice addition to my Morgan (and Peace) Dollar collection. I’m looking forward to receiving them.

Great photos! With a few years' patience, the 2021 issues will be easily found on the secondary market for reasonable prices. I do wish the old mint would strike some issues proper, since they will stamp out the occasional medal with the enigmatic mint mark.

Thanks. That’s an interesting viewpoint. I feel the 2021 Morgan’s and peace dollars will be pricey. The peace dollar and the CC will be much more than the other Morgan’s.

This forum provides many opinions and I am learning how refreshing that can be. Thanks 🙏

The original press was rebuilt and repaired so many times it hardly resembles it's original form. 'But still'

"The venerable press — which churned out millions of dollars in silver and gold coins during stints at U.S. Mints in Carson City, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Denver between 1870 and 1964 — is once again minting medallions after being down for much of 2017 for repairs."

At first I thought the first one was struck at the CC mint. Would of been cool.

Basically, there's a 'CC' where the 'CC' is on the actual 'CC' coin

    I'll come up with something.

    @NotSure
The answer is No. The Press is used to make a few souvenir medals I believe about once a year or so. It is too fragile to mint actual Morgan Dollars in the hundreds or thousands. Read this somewhere.

Coin press #1 no longer can strike up dollar-sized coins. The medallions that are produced there now are limited to half-dollar sized.

really cool post, thank you. Not a fan of the product but I respect it and glad the mint is going out of it's way to make stuff like this for collectors.
