I'm excited Its Arrived

I'm going to be getting my first Dan Carr piece. Where I had been out of the hobby for the last 25 to 30 years I had never even heard his name before. It seems I missed out on a lot. Anyways I found a 1917 Peace dollar broken sword and I am in the process of getting it. It will take a short while because I pay by personal check, but I can't wait to have it in hand to admire his work close up.

He does great work, you won’t be disappointed.
It's all about what the people want...
@LukeMarshall if it looks like the pictures then I'm going to love it.

Dan does really nice work... I have a couple of his coins.... Planning on getting more....Cheers, RickO
Great decision on purchasing a Carr.
It is a worthy piece in any collection.
Enjoy it.

Kennedys are my quest...
Not that it matters much to collectors, yet I doubt a single example of a Moonlight Mint overstruck coin has not seen tremendous upside in profit when purchased from Carr's website.

@SummerDays3104 Nice
@braddick it seems people are collecting these, so it must matter to some collectors

Yes, I myself haven't as of yet purchased one of Dan Carr's special coins. Maybe in the near future? Although, I do have something similar. It's a Mule coin design from ,"Intaglio Mint". I got this awhile back. A 2 ouncer with a limited quantity.

See that, I thought this was the US Coin forum. [rim zing]
What I meant was the motivating factor among collectors is the joy in collecting these, not necessarily the profits.

I have several Dan Carr pieces and love 'em all! Intaglio Mint does a great job, too.
Here's one of my Intaglio Mint silver "rounds."
@koynekwest That would look more awesome in gold

@gumby1234 Congrats!
Here's mine, a 1919 Dan Carr $1 Peace broken sword....
@Knell does yours have a special finish? It looks different than mine.

I've purchased two of the Dan Carr designs previously and one of them was the "broken sword" Peace dollar. Mine is dated 1917 and my images of it are below-
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I like the artist's original concept regarding the broken sword, but I can also see why some found it to portray the wrong image.
Here's one of the two-ounce coins I picked up "back in the day."
And, for completeness, the other one:
After looking at these old photos I took and those of @TomB above, it's obvious he nailed the technique.
I know but it's the best I could do. I couldn't afford one of those even if I sold my entire collection. I'd love to have one, tho.
i dont think I have ever seen a 1917 Peace Dollar before thank you for sharing. Those are beautiful.
I lied I finally found one hiding in a storage box I guess I did have one after all here is a pic. Its not a 70 but I doubt I could tell he difference.
@Coinnmore These were made by Dan Carr, struck over a real Peace dollar. He has made many different years. Many different designs as well.

@gumby1234
As far as I know, no special finish. I ordered this because I like the look of antique finish and over struck on one of those Peace $1 1922-1935.
Those are beautiful coins, looking around on eBay, I see lots of ANACS "Token" slabs. Will PCGS grade them the same? I'd like a 1964-D Peace Dollar, $250 seems to be the going rate.
@bramn8r i could be wrong ( nothing unusual) but I dont think PCGS slabs Dan Carr. I know ANACS and IGC do. They both do a good job grading. It is in some peoples heads that the other 3 grading companies don't grade correctly. I've had many ANACS coins that upgraded when crossed to our host.

@gumby1234 two of my highest graded crossovers were ANACS, I'd like to see PCGS grade a Dan Carr. I may just buy a 1964-D Peace "token" - it's beautiful.
I’m in.
