eBay Scam

I have today received a notification / email that I have won an eBay item and should pay thru PayPal for the following item.
The "invoice" is extremely accurate with personal info.
There are mistakes on the item won in the invoice.
I will not post what they are but be warned to check all invoice emails.
They required me to pay thru PayPal with a link with several options like paying thru EBucks discounts and your willing ability to donate to a charity.
The item listed was a currently listed item for sale in a field that I have shown interest in.
It too was an accurate seller's item.
I assume that since it was a "small" item price that I would just pay it.
Check and then re-check your invoices.
Know what you are currently bidding on and or are buying on items you showed interest in.
For warned is for armed.

Is this message supposedly from Paypal?
I get these all the time, telling me that my account has been suspended. I forward them to "Spoof@Paypal.com". I do not know if Paypal does anything about them. They show up every once in awhile.
@rec78 : I get those too.
Unfortunately, this particular ebay scam has been going on for at least 16-years. I write that length of time because I recall the first time I received one of these "invoices" was when I had a lab in a particular hospital that I haven't worked in since 2005. It seemed that I would get a few, then nothing for years, then a few more, and again nothing.
Be careful and never click the links on these scams.

I still get similar attempts... even though I don't frequent ebay anymore. @WAYNEAS ... Thanks for the heads up though.... lots of people using ebay....Cheers, RickO

thanks for the heads up as well. its been a while since i got one but that does not mean they wont start again
Want, WHAT, eBay scam. Nooooo say it ain't so.
I dont use it or PayPal because of these type of things. It takes longer to get my items paying with personal check, but I'm good with that.

Phishing scams are becoming more and more sophisticated. Once in a while you'll still get the obvious ones with misspelled words or from strange email addresses but many times they will appear to be from legitimate senders and have the look/feel you expect, perhaps even with personal information included. Friendly reminder to avoid clicking links in emails. If you receive an email that looks legitimate with a link to something you are interested in, your best bet is to go to the bank/broker/vendor website directly and access the notice/invoice/whatever through normal channels. More often that not it will be legitimate and you will have wasted a few seconds of your life, but better to be safe than sorry.
Couldn't agree more. I reported and forwarded the email to spoof@ebay.com. We shall see what happens.

Far more fraud protection with credit cards through PayPal than any other method of payment.
So I just received an eBay message that I need to complete this transaction.
This was in fact on my eBay account message board.
Not happening.
