Your Favorite Derek Jeter Item

In preparation for Wednesday's HOF induction I thought it would be fun to see everyone's favorite Derek Jeter item. I'm a Yankees fan which means I'm a Derek Jeter fan, but I don't collect him much. I do collect Bernie Williams which means there are a few items that feature them both, allowing me to have some Jeter in my collection. Here is by far my favorite, 1997 Baseball Weekly signed by Bernie, Andy and Derek. PSA/DNA authenticated, I need to stop dragging my feet and have it framed.

Collecting anything and everything relating to Roger Staubach

Mine isn't so much a favorite item as much as a favorite memory. Jeter and Griffey at 2nd base in an interleague game. At the time we thought Robby Cano would be pretty good too. Griffey hit a homer that day but the day belonged o the Yankees.

Part of my Rookie Cup auto collection. And I didn't pay $1100 for him to sign it!

And a pack pulled Jeter from back in the day. Always loved this card.

Cano is/has been better than Jeter.

I have two Jeter autos, but I think the Bowman blue ink is my favorite

The memory I have of sitting right behind 3b at Fenway while Jeter was giving a pregame interview about 10 feet in front of me. After yelling “Nomar’s better!” (Sox fans second favorite Jeter taunt), he turns and looks me dead in the eye with a look that could only be described as “Dude?!”

How are you doing on completion of this set? Clearly you are more dedicated to it than I was, as you have at least 2 items that eluded me, mainly due to price i was willing to pay...this Jeter and the 71 Munson. Also missing the Iciro and a few others before 2000 and after 2000, it gets much spottier.

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

Thanks for asking! I'm down to around 18 including the most recent crop. Most of the more expensive ones are done. Tsuyoshi Shinjo and Kazuhiro Sasaki may be the death of me with my OCD for completing things. I have a huge group in the dual grading group sub and I think I'll start its own thread once I get those back. I'm now wondering how this is going to go with Fanatics getting the MLB license in a few years. The chase may be nearing an end for new crop.

Wow! Nice going. I need Shinjo as well, never saw one come up, but have a couple other cards signed, so I know he signed here and there. I have Sasaki.

Did you also do the years where there is no trophy and those handful that Topps missed, but were on the team? I did those as well. A couple holes that were not possible because no card of them existed in that year following their election to the team, like Ainge and C. Johnson if I recall, maybe a couple more.

Yeah I did the "non-trophy" years as well. I ended up doing the 1982 Topps Ainge and the USA Charles Johnson and went ahead and got his first true Topps card (1999 I think with the Dodgers of all things). I also started doing the Heritage cards for the ones that have them. Send me a list of who you're missing. I've got quite a few dupes and would be glad to send some to help you along on it.

I do have his complete rookie set, but this cut auto made by Jeffrey Palombo is pretty awesome!
