Is the color on this peace dollar worth a premium?

It just seems to be so little of the color and its fairly dull although the colors are harder to find.
I just don't see this dollar bringing any premium for the toning. Am I mistaken to think so? What do y'all think its worth?

Pretty common date and (my humble opinion) ugly. Seems over priced but who knows anymore. Better options available 🤓🙀

It’s negative eye appeal to me.

No premium for the color, which I find unattractive. It's worth whatever the prices guides for a 64 say it is.

I don't see the eye appeal and based on your post neither do you. It doesn't have to be beautiful rainbow toning but if it's even distributed (not spots or streaks) and not too dark I'll pay a premium.

Not much, Peace Dollars are hard to find with nice color, when they do they do bring a premium if in a good holder. It would be nice if when a poster asked a question regarding a coin elsewhere to provide a photo of that coin in question to prevent the reader from having to leave the forum and then back in.

Not everyone can make a picture of a coin, they can do a link. With that being said I am glad you put up the coin!

That coin shows very nice originality . . . . . . but when you have to really delve into the coin closely to analyze the color or toning . . . . . . I think it is diminished . .

There’s that “can you grade using a photo” thread.

Well… can you judge color using a photo? It is much harder to take an accurate color photo.

Everyone, including me, is judging from a poorly lit photo.

But I can cop-out if I want. It’s a common coin in a common grade with free returns. (free except for the hassles) If you have to ask, then why take the chance and the hassles?

But I’m not going to cop-out. It has nice hues around the rim at the date. Then I see green, browns and dark orange everywhere else. That everywhere else kills the look… in the photos. So I can confidently say my opinion is “what is in the photos looks bad.”

Don't see anything in the photos that scream premium. My toner doppler radar is picking up nothing.

You also have to remember - taking a picture of the coin angled a certain way will reveal colorful toning that is not present when the slab/coin is viewed normally. Beware of that situation!

Not to me. I’d rather have a white one. For not much more you could get a nice MS65.

It is an ugly coin. Even if it had a rainbow on it, I would not pay for tarnish. It seems coins are the only silver that people like to have tarnished. Tableware and trays etc. always get cleaned. Your money, your decision. Cheers, RickO

:# I figured that at the price, it was an actual auction. Wrongo on my part for being a little quick on the draw.

They are if they have some chemical residue on them that is eating them alive. Otherwise, given proper storage, they won't turn black during your lifetime.

I don't consider that to be at all attractive. I don't blame them for selling it, but offering it at $105 is wishful thinking.

Not attractive. 1923 should be Ricko-approved, blast white with headlight luster.
