The pictures are kinda low resolution. But I don’t think there is much upside to sending them in. If you do want pics then I’d say reholder plus gold shield. That will keep the price lower.

It would depend on the motivations you have, are you wanting to sell? Just want photos? Want the new slab? Something else entirely? If you just want photos there are a number of great coin photographers that can provide great photos in those slabs. If you want to sell then you need to ask yourself is will new plastic (and perhaps a + or grade bump) cover the cost to have regraded. If you just want new plastic then its your call as to if the cost is worth it to you.

What would your motivation be for each option you mentioned?

With respect to regrade, the pictures aren’t clear enough to assess the coins in a meaningful way and you only showed one side of each coin. So how could anyone provide a helpful answer?

All my coins are basically in the new holders - Gold Shield
I eventually will be interested in selling all my coins because
I am 75, and my daughter has no interest in my coins.
I would like these photographed and put into new holders
because of their value .... (make any sense ?)

Don't waste money playing the reholdering game. You already have the coins in PCGS plastic. They are very marketable just as is.

(make any sense ?) Well not to me, but then people do things all the time that don't make sense to me. ;) Is sounds like you just want a consistent look to the photos and holders, if that is the case and you want to spend the money to have that sameness of look then reholder with TV seems the way to go. If you choose regrade you run the risk of the extra % cost if one or both were to upgrade. Perhaps the best of both worlds would be to crack them and send in raw, certainly more risk and may not be a good option if your not very certain that the coins will come back with (or higher than) the current grade. But if you think either is a strong upgrade contender sending in raw would avoid the extra % cost of the regrade service.

    Al,

What you are asking kind of makes sense, although not sure it is the most prudent use of funds. I think having a TrueView (which you could get with a Shield Reholder) adds some value of you are selling online via eBay, etc. Not as much value if you are thinking of selling through a national auction venue, as they all seem to have excellent imagining capabilities now.

Now if the coins are considered top end for the grade, maybe sending for a grade review and TV is worthwhile. Even getting a plus on one, along with the TV's, might make the package worthwhile.

Finally if it's all about uniformity, and the OCD in you has to have matching holders, well then, value doesn't matter. Do what makes you happy.

So... if i want all my coins to be in uniform slabs... and let's say PCGS changes the slab design starting in 2025, and I submit some coins for grading... can i request PCGS to use the older slab?

If your goal is to sell your coins (and most likely through a dealer or auction firm) save your money. Collectors like old holders. For one thing, there is less of a chance of a coin "turning" in an old holder.

I appreciate all the input - I am dis-missing the regrading, but would like the "TrueView" that comes with
the Gold Shield - If I read PCGS prices correct - Just reholder with gold Shield is $18.00 ??
Also, If I understand correctly, the gold coin has a value of a little over $4,000 and the Carson City dollar a
    little over $400 ??

looking at recent closed auctions the gold dollar is averaging $3,300 and the 78-CC around $500.

It seems (to me) you are looking to optimize the value for resale. IMO, the reholder with gold shield is hardly worth the effort when considering fees and shipping. Choosing a good sales venue for coins of value, will provide an excellent return without the added cost. Cheers, RickO
