There are a few foreign error Coins but not any foreign normal Coins;
Heritage sold a few rare China Mint Coins of mine about a month ago – and I was very satisfied and happy with the results

Congrats, Fred - looking forward to seeing the catalog(s)!!
Perfect error ad for an error specialist - isn't the ANA this week??

A few months ago when visiting Fred at his office, He sold me his 1977 Lincoln Cent struck on an aluminum planchet from the U.S. Mint at PHILADELPHIA. This isn’t a S.F. Mint off-metal on an aluminum planchet intended for a foreign country, since the S.F. Mint struck aluminum coins for foreign countries. This aluminum Lincoln Cent is a mystery.

Retirement is a very tough road to go down.
Giving up a lifetime habit of getting up and putting in your work every day is challenging. It took me at least 37 days to adjust.
Best wishes Fred.

This is my 50th year as a full time dealer (been collecting since I was 8)
I've re-connected with my first girlfriend from over 50 years ago (1968!) and we're great together.
(in fact, 49 years ago we would go thru Mint Sewn bags of 1972 Cents that I got from Harry Forman,
to go thru looking to find '72 doubled dies) - she saw what a coin nerd I was, said 'go ahead and have
your coin fun, and I'll see ya in 50 years' ) !!
I have a lot of material, both company and personal, and I realized it would not be fair or kind to
drop dead in the future, leaving those responsible to sort and sell everything. Would not be fun for
someone else to do - but I get to enjoy seeing what my 'stuff' brings while I'm here.
No reason to wait for a better Market in 5-10 years from now.
Not too interested in spending the next ten years or so traveling across the country to coin shows.
That's the six reasons, in general. There are a few other minor considerations, but that's pretty much it.
I enjoyed the kind words, thoughts, and suggestions from all the folks I saw last week at the ANA -
and for the nice words and thoughts here too.......

Fred, I guess this is as good of a place and time as any...
Congratulations and I wish you loads of fun!
Thank you for all that you’ve done for the hobby for so long.
I’ve never known you to be other than extremely helpful, pleasant, gracious, professional, fair and unselfish.
I wish there were a lot more dealers like you to set such a fine example.

I can be a bit irritable at times, but that's pretty rare, I believe (or hope)
and it's usually after dealing with real stubborn people for more than 15 minutes!

I have never had interest in error coins as a collectible, but I have always followed them with interest in their production be it intentional or just a manufacturing error. Fred Weinberg has earned my trust in explaining how these errors seem to happen, and escape from the Mint. Fred, I hope that you will continue to share your expert opinion with us even though you no longer want to deal with them. Your specialty has earned you the right to be in the Numismatic Hall of Fame.
And send us some fishing pictures........ Fish like shiny silvery things and they will always investigate. You just have to develop the new attractor coin pattern fly that they will bite. I know you can catch an Amberjack with an error coin fly........they will bite a bare hook, and take you for a ride. And post your catch on this forum so we all know the3re life beyond coins.
Most of you might not know that for the first half of my
career, I traveled extensively for business -
Back in the '70's, '80's, and early '90's, I attended at
least two shows a month, sometimes three (many dealers
did many more shows that that) except for the last half
of November thru January.
In addition to that, since 1973 to the late '90's, I went to
Europe every 6-8 weeks buying large quantities of US
gold (and some rare dates too!)
So, traveling isn't a big attraction to me at this point.
We will plan a trip down the Danube in a few years when
it's safer, but most of the traveling will probably be to visit her
kids and grandchildren.
