@picklepete agreed! He and Bernie Williams are my two favorite baseball players ever. Here's a couple group shots of some of my Carter stuff, I love your autographs!

here are my sets i like to use hall of fame players on the front of my binders. they are in poor to vg grade. and some of my heritage sets i used one of my favorite players pujols base cards in the front of the binders. the small binders have the early heritage sets.
@AFLfan your collection is tremendous, I love seeing it every time you share. Today was the first time I noticed just how many Gilchrist autographs you have, incredible to see them all together.

Thanks, Abe. I've actually got more Gilchrist, but I already had these images available.
I collected nothing but AFL for about 20 years, so I was probably able to dig deeper into that one category than I would have been if I collected many different things. As a result, I guess, my signed card collection became pretty extensive. ;-)

Love that idea. I thought about doing something like that but decided on simple homemade labels. Pujols is my favorite too.

when i was putting my sets together i first started with label like my small albums have. most of my sets are in exmt condition. then i had extras of my hall of fame players and thought it would be a good idea to use them since they are in poor condition istead of having them in boxes i might as well use them.
Here’s my little homage to the two greatest two sports superstars that I ever saw play. The Bo and Deion signed mini helmets were custom made to their exact helmets that they wore.

@262Runner - very nice collection. When I was about 10 years old my dad bought me a '52 Topps Gus Zernial because he remembered and loved the image from when he was a kid.
I'm always interested in why people collect certain things/players. Zernial was a solid player, but kind of an obscure guy. Care to share your interest in him?
Todd Tobias - Grateful Collector - I focus on autographed American Football League sets, Fleer & Topps, 1960-1969, and lacrosse cards.
Clem Daniels is actually pictured on Art Powell's 1965 Topps card. So here are three examples, one signed by Powell, one in which Powell wrote "Clem Daniels" on the card, and one signed by Daniels.
The AFL coaches in 1964. The Broncos fired Jack Faulkner after four games and replaced him with Mac Speedie, so I needed one of each.
Dick Christy died in a card accident in 1966, making him one of the tougher signed AFL cards to find. This is one of each of his cards.

Infamous AC show a few years purchasing haul - my son loves to reference this one all the time as “remember when you bought all those cards at the National after you sold some Mantle’s. Ironically enough AC was like a casino - sold a couple of 56 Mantles the first hour of the show and was way up only to spend it and then some on some Gehrig’s and Ruth cards right away 🤣 plus an unopened box run as well.

From about 2005 to 2010 I had season tickets to the Fresno Grizzlies (SF Giants AAA franchise). Our seats were right behind home plate. My two daughters, 8 and 10 years old at the time went to every game with me. Gus Zernial was a part time announcer and radio host then, but his seats were right next to ours. My daughters and him would talk baseball for an entire game. We heard stories from his playing days, broadcasting days and coaching. Gus was a great guy and loved to talk baseball with anybody who would listen. Over the 3 or 4 years we shared those seats with him we became good friends.
There were a lot of players back then that we got to know because of Gus, (Kevin Frandsen, Todd Linden, even spent a little time with Tim Lincecum before he was pulled from a game and left for San Francisco).
My daughters and I still talk about Gus and how much we all enjoyed watching baseball while hearing his stories. A time I will never forget.

1976 Topps Star Trek! Full box, PSA 8 pack, #2 card/sticker/pack combo on the registry. Complete card and sticker set PSA graded. The photos at the bottom are part of a 215 photo hoard I found. Used in the 1976 Topps production of the set, the photos are red stamped with the kodak logo and most are dated Oct, Nov, or Dec of '74. Notice the Kang is the exact photo chosen for the sticker. I can't wait to send some of these photo's to be encased. Hope to find a salesman card sample, if they exist, or were produced even, and also the sell sheet advertisement. FASCINATING.

Thanks. From about 1998-2019, nearly 100% of my collecting time was dedicated to signed AFL cards. Between that and all of the research and writing I did on the league, I made a lot of connections. A couple of those cards I got TTM, one in person, others via trade or purchase. You'd be surprised how far you can get with a collection when you have blinders on to nearly all other cards.
