Good 2x2 carboard flips in pvc plastic sheets?

I know that purists will stay far away of anything containing PVC.
I just bought from Amazon a small album for holding 2x2 flips, without realizing that the pages contain PCV.
Is it safe to use?
Can PVC sitting near a cardboard holder do anything to the coin inside?
I have some evidence that after many years, the PVC plastic can start to feel a little oily...
presumably that could affect the flip but could it trouble the coin itself?
Thanks!

Yes, they can leach onto the coin. Not probable, but possible, especially in an enclosed container. I would not have anything with PVC near my coins or currency

PVC is a big no no 🤓

Well, why are they selling the ding-dang things? I know I should have read the description more carefully...

And even if the 2x2s protect the coins…
Would the pvc react with the staples?
Good question now we have staples reacting to pvc or 2x2with glue dripping maybe time to tape them closed but will the tape react 🧐

I don't know if the staples would react to the pvc, but I certainly had a bad reaction to the pvc...
PVC is bad around coins... It will contaminate them and eventually ruin the coin. Cheers, RickO

PVC off-gases vapors and cardboard 2X2 holders aren't airtight Not good for long term storage.

If you are using 2x2 that require staples be sure to squeeze the staples with a pair of pliers. Acetone will cure most PVC issues, but nothing cures a staple scratch. There are staplers that insert flattened staples. Most office supply stores and Walmarts carry them.
I am NOT an expert, but it is likely due, at least in part, to the fact that PVC is relatively inexpensive.

Some people use PVC pages like that and even PVC flips for short term storage and for shipping coins. They like them because they are soft and flexible with no staples. But then if people don’t know that, or forget to take them out in a timely manner, they end up with that green acidic slime on them that etches into the coins.
A folder like the one pictured with the PVC pages might have limited usefulness if you wanted to bring coins in to a Coin Club meeting to show them off or to put new purchases in at a coin show or coin shop so you could safely carry them home in an organized manner and then take them out when you get back home.
But there are better alternatives for sure. Like these polypropylene ones that are PVC free https://www.amosadvantage.com/product/BCW-20-Pocket-2x2-Page
