Missouri Numismatic Society Show Report: My son was on cloud 9 when we left the show!

Hello friends, I hope all of you are doing well.
I just wanted to share a quick report from the Missouri Numismatic Society Show that took place over the weekend (Thursday - Saturday). It was the first large show in St. Louis for some time so I know there was a great deal of excitement to resume a little bit of normalcy. The show was sold out and admission was free making it more than worth the trip.
We saw some beautiful coins and talked to some great people but with that being said I wanted to really elaborate on how the show went for my son.
He is 9 years old and only recently got into ancient and foreign coins but has long loved learning about history so it is the perfect marriage. This was his first coin show and he left feeling unbelievably excited about the hobby.
He received a ton of free swag including a plethora of foreign coinage for his growing collection. The dealers we spoke to took so much time out of their day explaining the history of the coins/bills he was interested in and left no stone unturned in regards to answering his questions. They were all more than willing to work with him on pricing so he could get the most bang for the small amount of bucks he had available, even throwing in some extras for him.
He was smiling from ear to ear upon leaving the show and he couldn't stop talking about how nice everyone was and all the cool stuff he got for the remainder of the weekend. And of course seeing him that excited left me feeling overjoyed.
I just want to publicly thank any of those dealers that might be on this site for the time you invested in talking with my son this weekend. You made his day and you made mine too. Just another reason this hobby is so great!
Here he is with his haul from the weekend including some ancient coins and some neat currency he picked up from around the globe. I am hopeful his passion will continue to grow!

It is a great hobby in a lot of ways... people, history, geography, art, etc. Good to see he has been bitten with something that will enrich his life.
It's so good to see a young person that likes the hobby. I hope he continues to collect-we need young people in this great hobby.
Great story, glad you and your son had a fantastic show.

I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Thank you to everyone for your responses and I think our experience speaks to the overwhelming amount of good people in our hobby, both dealers and collectors alike. This board is a primary example of that!
The fact that my son was able to see/experience this first hand brings me great joy.

When I worked shows.....it was always so rewarding seeing a parent or grand parent share their passion with their children. The look on your sons face is priceless! And thats the look that I quite often experienced ,and I will never loose memories of such.
It was a gift to watch the kids light up like Christmas morning.... some things money cant buy....and to share your interest, and knowledge and pass on something dear to you...to someone very dear to you....priceless!

Here's a "coin" he might like
Great story! His little lock box reminds me of me back in the '60s. I did the same thing.
