Any at-face-value sources for $1 US Coins intended to be spent?

This year will finally run out of a supply of Presidential dollars originally obtained at face value (US Mint circa 2009). They are particularly convenient for parking-meters around here.

Of course at the US Mint there is a premium and shipping charge.

Have been asking at local banks periodically over the past couple of years, and it appears no one ever turns any in.

Appreciate any comment.

You should have no problem getting some at your local bank.
If they don't have enough on hand there is a good chance they would order a box for you.

I have a hard time reading sometimes. :p:D

Ask your bank to order a box. ;)

Some banks won't let you order coins. The minimum order from the federal reserve at the banks I deal with is 2 boxes ($1000 per box) So you have to order 2 boxes( $2000 face total). Just don't return them to the same bank you got them at. Some banks charge. My one bank charges .10 per roll which would equal $8 for 2 boxes. So depending on your bank you may be able to just get one box. Banks order by boxes, you most likely will not be able to purchase less, unless someone brings them in for deposit and they have them on hand. Other banks hate coins so much that they will tell you there is a coin shortage and won't order you any. The current coin shortage is only on dimes and quarters. They could still order you the other denominations. In fact, I ordered some dollars and they will be in today 7-15.

I got 18 H.F. String wrapped rolls of presidents last week from my bank. They call me every couple weeks to say that customers brought them in.

Banks would be the main source... Perhaps some supermarkets if you check at the main desk. Maybe the Post Office if you have a good relationship there.... Cheers, RickO

Thanks very much for all the useful comments.

Will widen my search as suggested in the responses. Had no idea banks could order these at face value - but must admit minimums of multiple $1000 boxes is intimidating. In the past, responses from tellers and supermarket cashiers to gentle inquiry, unfortunately, have ranged from confused to hostile.

You can probably get Susies too, which should also work in the meters.

check with your local bank. I have placed an order for a box before. I have to go back to the office and our meters also take the $1 coins as well.

I just helped a neighbor with his fathers collection and he must have had 1000$ in presidential rolls of the new dollars bought at a premium off of TV or out of magazines. Lots of plated state quarters too

The vending machine companies get them from their banks who get them from the Fed's contracted coin terminals. But the service isn't free - the banks pay fees for the deliveries. The issue isn't availability, it's the willingness of your bank to eat the ordering fees. Offer to pay them???

Even if that worked, it would no longer qualify as the “face value source” OP is looking for.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.

It costs the bank money. It's one thing if you have a business account and run thousands of dollars of payroll through the bank plus ordering coins and such - the fees cover the bank's costs.

But for a one-off purchase from somebody with zero relationship? Honestly, I expect the bank to charge you fees, because why should I subsidize you?

I have received them in change when buying local transportation tokens. This was pre-Covid.

Long Island Railroad gives them as change when you buy a ticket using their machines. I just exchange 14 for my grandson who made out like a bandit since all I had was a $20.

credit union - i placed an order this spring for dollar coins - had to order 2 boxes ($2000)
they made it seem like i was the first to ever order them
the 2 boxes were completely different - one was new Pres dollars(Hayes & Garfield) - other was mixed used with 40% SBA's
they are going fast - already have gone thru one box spending them at stores
