I never knew that he was in the grading business. I greatly enjoy speaking with him at the shows, most often Winter FUN.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

This is the only certificate I have seen. I don't know if his service went on to grade coins or stayed at the "sample" stage.

I enjoy talking to him at FUN- last time I was looking at a pop 1/0 Gobrecht $ in his case and he told me “you better buy that coin before one of these billionaires offers me a fortune for it”

Unfortunately I didn’t buy it, and stopping by later it was gone- “told you so” he said

    Very, very cool!

The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin

    Very Nice find!
Is it the photo cert or just a note in the file?
ASGI is a new company that has not been seen before.

Thanks. I am always on the look out for a new company that I have not seen before.

I had never heard of the service. How was the grading compared to PCGS standards of the day?

That appears to be Anthony Swiatek's personal handwriting. He autographed his latest commem book with very flourishing handwriting that looks just like that certificate.

I wonder if this was a trial run at a new grading group. Cheers, RickO

    1. I've never seen one before, sample or otherwise. Note that he did not use a numerical grade on the sample. I suspect the service never actually got started due to lack of interest in non-numerical grading at point in time.
