I will be there Saturday from around 10:30-11 to 2:00, I will be looking to buy something cool.
Show reports please.... Should be a nice weekend and lots of people attending. Cheers, RickO
Well I am here at the show. Officially opens at 10 but bought "early bird" ticket. Half the dealers still setting up or not here yet. Guess I should have just waited til 10.
Lots of buzz. Not seeing a lot that I am specifically interested in yet but will hang out for a bit and do a few more rounds once more dealers are set up.
I dont go to many coin shows but this is a pretty big one I think. Lots of activity already here, have witnessed a few rolls of cash being handed over and many dealers who are set up have traffic.
Will report again later.

I stuck around for a while. There was a line of people waiting to get in when doors opened at 10. Seemed like good traffic but again I have not been to a lot of coin shows.
There was definitely a lot of cash and coins changing hands. Unfortunately for me I didn't find anything with my name on it.
This is what I walked away with today:
Bumped into a couple of people I knew and had a good chat, met a couple of new people also. Unfortunately nothing for me to bring home. A little disappointing.
But dealers seemed busy and people seemed to be buying stuff.
Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and take another loop, see if anything new walks in. My early bird pass covers both days.

Thanks for the show report, but sorry you did not find anything.
I plan on being there on Saturday with my brother in law. I can't wait.

I wanted to go but couldn’t get a ride. Interesting to read Pedzola’s observations. I had been to this show in years past and find many of the things Pedzola pointed out to be true of my previous visits. The good stuff is usually overpriced. I have sold to dealers at this show many times and sometimes do well but usually they are simply not in buying mood or offer very little. And you get your mix of people - friendly and talkative, don’t really want to be there and rude. Definitely a mix. I know some of the people there and see them around at other events. I have come to make a few friends and many of those friends are people shopping around like me. I have yet to go to a coin show since the pandemic began but perhaps next month I will be able to make it to one. I miss them.
I went to this show in April and have been once or twice before. I found much the same as what @Pedzola observed. The show is fun and well attended. Plenty of cool coins to look at and buy. But don't expect to find much by way of hidden treasures. The dealers with websites have the good stuff on the web (e.g., Northeast Numismatics, CRO), and the "weekend" dealers without websites probably don't get in a lot of higher-end, fresh material. This would be true of any show, though statistically you might have better luck at the very largest national shows.

Anything nice is priced too high
When I read something like that, I conclude the collector who approaches his or her collection with that premise will assuredly have an average collection. Unless one can "luck into" finding a really choice coin for a cheap price (ebay? coin shop right after it was taken in over the counter?), one should expect to pay more for choice and exceptional coins.
If one wants a nice, average collection for which one can expect nice, average prices when it comes time to sell, then primarily being price conscious is a great idea. If one wants an impressive, wow-type collection, prepare to pay more.
I have done both. I enjoyed the latter immensely. And when I sold, I enjoyed selling for "too high"
Unfortunately work and my daughter's recital made me miss this show for the first time in years. I'll be sure to go in October when it comes around again. I've always had good luck going.
My 3 cents
We have great coins out same as what we have on the web and more…. And we sold a ton of coins to both collectors and dealers…
Food. It’s outside down the hall. You must have missed it?
Prices… expect to pay a little more for nice coins. That’s just the way the market is…
Don’t have a big budget. Lots of neat things to collect that don’t cost a fortune not only from my table but look at foreign, modern, medals. Lots of things for everyone!
If you are around Sat stop bye our table. Always have the candy out with the coins. Hope to see you
I have never heard of this before. Is it common?
@Pedzola.... Thanks for the report. I hope you find something to take home today. Cheers, RickO
@Pedzola
“I saw some dealers who actually had small green stickers or labels that said "cac" even though they werent beaned.
I have never heard of this before. Is it common?”
If that’s not illegal then it’s highly unethical.
Let me just clarify so as I don't mislead anyone. I saw 1 dealer table with small round green stickers on slabs with no labels/letters. They were reminiscent of cac stickers but clearly not the same, and in fact they were on the bottom half of the slabs, not on the labels.
There was another dealer who had yellow handwritten stickers that said "CAC," but they did not have a green bean. Perhaps he had reholdered these coins and just hadnt sent them back in for a resticker. Again nothing you could mistake for a real cac sticker.
So in either case maybe nothing nefarious, but still in my opinion didnt give me warm fuzzies about the dealers.
Have another followup to post, which I will write separately...

So I went back to the show this morning and I walked away today with a new coin.
I want to thank Jon from Scarsdale coin (who posted in this thread above!) for being generous with his time, fair in negotiation, knowledgeable, and a general pleasure to talk to and deal with.
I saw a coin in his case yesterday that was not in my plan or budget, but he was nice enough to show it to me anyway and chat, and it was a friendly and professional interaction.
I did my homework on the coin last night, decided it was something worth pursuing for my collection, and this morning I went back to the show with some trade material to see if I could make a deal.
Long story short I now have a new amazing piece of early gold, which I will share and post separately once I have pictures. Fantastic buying experience today. Jon / Scarsdale Coin is top notch.
Thanks Jon!
Assume he's still at the show - if anyone is there check out his table, he's got some great material. Highly recommended.

Thanks to all for the updates.

Kennedys are my quest...
Wish I was there right now. 🍺
Took a ride up Friday morning to pick up my newp from CRO.
Had a good cac run on Tuesday 8/10 so a coin show was the icing on the cake.
The cherry on top was while at the show my foe was writing out a check at a dealers table with his head down. When I introduced myself to the dealer my foes reaction was priceless. Total whiplash when he heard my name. After a little story the dealer said wow that’s why he reacted like that.
To much to write but after the case is settled a post will come.
Basically a png dealer refused to mail a coin I bought after he found out it wasn’t attributed. Credit card was charged and tracking was provided. Thought he could buy me for $500, the checks still sitting on my table.
Felt good that everyone was asking about the case. Lots of support from dealers, collectors and friends that know the story.
Any way I thought it was a good turn out. Every time I went to stop by to see Liz she was busy. Good to see CRO, Dave Kahn, GFRC. The crew at the LSCC Table and EAC.
Just a note always keep your Guard up at the shows and while traveling.
An elderly couple that I bought from last show was leaving when I was. They were about 25’ ahead of me. When a shady group stopped there car right where they were loading up. I took out my friend and caught up. The car then backed up and left the parking garage. I stayed till they were loaded up. I saw nothing good coming from the three in the car. The couple was very appreciative and thought the same thing I was thinking was going to happen.
Looking forward to the next show
