Just now! Seconds ago! I spotted a penny on the floor in the laundry room. From 6'+ above it looked like a WHEATIE! Sure enough! A 1929 Wheat Cent. While I'm typing this little Hydrantette Jenny (2 1/2 years) is asking for Papa's tablet to watch Minnie Mouse. Actually.... Mimi Mouw..anyway,...I told her to go get my sandwich that The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant is preparing for me. She did. With mustard and fries. She's on my lap now eating fries.....and pushing my belly button. Beep! Beep! It's 103°. Problem........when I got a 1900 penny at the gas station about a year ago.....she took it. Never found it. After she stops tickleing my leg she gets the tablet......Mimi Mouw. MINNIE MOUSE! I'M HIDING THE PENNY......!!!!!!!.......STILL Tickleing my leg......GA GA Goo Goo!..........MIMI MOUW it is!!!!!

so you gonna give her the wheatie, mark this date somewhere safe and then somewhere down the road, perhaps when she is 6, 7 or 8, you find it in an often unused closet and you'll check that date and remember how you gave it to her knowing the odds of seeing it again would be very low but if you did, the smile it would put on your face...ROI

A wheatie on the floor.... Well, kind of expected with a 2 and a half year old around....they get into everything, with no regard for anything beyond their own curiosity.

That sure beats the heavily corroded Zincoln the lovely Mrs. nwcoast spotted in the shallow water at the lake I was swimming in and birdwatching from yesterday. The water was perfect though and we spotted an Osprey- my first in years! No youngsters to liven up my day except one cool little one fishing :-)

the prize is was paltry but the skill and willingness may yield a bigger result. that could have just as easily been a half dime/dime/quarter etc.

She was about the same age as the kid I watched fishing yesterday who’s enthusiastic energy was also boundless.
I got pretty excited with the Penny find, even it was corroded.
She knows I’m on the look out and perhaps might just stumble into something cool one of these days- like the 1929 cent Hydrant was fortunate enough to pick up.
