1932 S quarter

Any opinions as to grade?
I don't have much experience with Washington quarters. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would say AU, but I think it will details. Looks like hairlines from cleaning.
I don’t think that one would straight grade. Looks cleaned. Too bad as it looks like it would grade pretty high. Hard to be sure from the photos.
Buffed/rubbed. Too bad on that one...
Well, just Love coins, period.
Au Details. If it is real.
If you want the best opinions and grades of your coins, always take the coins out of the holder before taking your pictures.
If the coins are in your possession that is.
OK so somebody most likely cleaned it at some point. It still looks amazing and must still have a bit of value because it is a 1932 S. Any idea about what it is worth?

$120-$170? It's a nice coin.
Ballpark $100-$150 as an AU details, cleaned example, if so graded by PCGS or NGC.

Looks real. Looks AU. Looks like someone might have lightly cleaned it at one point. I'd go in the $150-ish range for high end on the value.

As mentioned, AU cleaned. Be aware if you own it or buy it that trying to sell a "problem" coin is harder than selling a no problem coin... of course, that's where price comes in. Having said that, an attractive 1932-S problem coin is a reasonable coin if you are trying to put together a raw album on a budget. My Dansco 1932 S is an XF/AU with some issues, but nice toning.
U.S. Type Set
The hairline scratches on the obverse are a giveaway that the coin has been cleaned. Breast feather and hair detail determine an unc versus a slider.
I received a well worn one in change at a movie theater in 1963 and it got me into coin collecting. This is a weakly struck coin, an oddity for a Washington Quarter. The motto in particular is always weak.
The coin at issue looks like a cleaned high end AU, as there appears to be wear on the breast feathers. The motto on subject coin is unusually well struck, and the reverse is hammered. Pity about the cleaning.
This just reiterates the point of if you see what appears to be an otherwise expensive coin not in a first world slab, unless you're an EAC guy (or gal), there's a good reason for it.

Nice coin before it was cleaned. When lustrous and no problem they become highly desirable. I bought one once in a Kingswood Auction that was all there in a PCGS slab.
Looks like a high end AU with a very light cleaning...Cheers, RickO
