    Congratulations, that's wonderful!!!

    Thanks @Namvet69 and @Downtown1974

Funny story, I kept telling my wife for the entire two weeks that we had zero chance to win. I really do believe the Royal Mint made every effort to publicize this auction as they created the YouTube video and shared the information with just about every news outlet available, including Coin World. Perhaps the auction got buried in the Morgan release hysteria here in the US.

Wow! Fantastic story, and great restraint in keeping it under wraps until you had it in-hand.

When I first read it, my mind saw a 5 oz medal and I thought…. “That’s pretty big.” I was way off. The thing is gargantuan. Cool stuff.

PS, if you can, go to Europe & take the tour. :)

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is one of my favourite songs from childhood. Remember playing on the record player over and over again. Elton John is an amazing artist and has lasting talent. Would have loved to have seen the show that he and Billy Joel did.

Totally agree. I think I wore my turntable out playing that double album. Funeral for a Friend still gives me chills to this day.

Thanks and considering restraint is not one of my strengths, it was quite a task. Even my wife is excited about the Royal Mint tour so with her on my side, it will definitely happen!

How in the world did you decide what to bid. I honestly don't know what mine would be if I were in your shoes.
    Congratulations!!

Actually, that was the easiest part of the entire ordeal. It went something like this:

“Honey, what is my spending limit?”

    “Oh, OK. Thanks.”

Add my CONGRATULATIONS to the long list.

It would be worth it to call PCGS and see what they can do as to certification. They might come up with something for the publicity value and at no cost. You've already won so there is nothing to loose by making an inquiry.

If you do call let us know what the result is.

Thanks @Kudbegud - it would have to be at no cost because my wallet is certainly empty now and I've used all my allowance money until 2027.

Very cool! I was a big fan as a kid also, the first music I really got into. He's got an amazing body of work.

    Congratulations!

I saw Elton John a couple of times, decades ago in my youth. Always enjoyed his concerts. What a showman.

Congratulations on a great one of a kind pickup. I think it made it to the right home.

I would be super stoked winning something like that.

That's awesome. I've always been a fan of Elton John, but over the last few years my appreciation of him as really picked up, and I've gotten a lot albums, and they're constantly on. I'm not much of a concertgoer, but I got a ticket to his farewell tour when it came through Seattle in late 2019. Knowing it was my one and only chance to see him live, I couldn't skip it, and boy was it magical. He's a true musical genius, and it's so cool to see something that unique which is tied to him.

Congratulations! Sounds like it found the right home. :)

When I lived in Atlanta as a young stock broker in the late 90s, I would visit with an older couple at their high rise. Edith, if I recall correctly, was his downstairs neighbor and would bake cookies for Elton. She was a very sweet woman. Elton had an entire floor of the high rise building.

Unbelievably cool! That medal is certainly where it was meant to be appreciated, and shared. To also have a picture of Elton John holding the medal, being the only medal produced, while having a video that shares the production, and promotion of item? Wow! Wow! Wow! Congratulations!!!

Thanks again to all for the congratulatory notes and your own personal connection and/or admiration for Elton and his music. I had a feeling my numismatic brothers and sisters on this forum would have a similar place in their musical hearts and souls. It's really gratifying to hear from everyone as I get to relive the experience with each and every post.

Congratulations. That’s awesome and your backstory is familiar. I was a huge fan @12-13 years old.

When I saw the trailer for Rocket Man I thought it would be a fun nostalgic film and I figured, well, let me listen to his stuff again beforehand.

First song I listened to was “Salvation” and I was utterly unprepared for the emotions it brought up after 45 years. That last chorus.....dude and his band were really, really good.

Apparently I took all that for granted as a kid.

Thanks for sharing @dogwood. There are so many great songs on Honky Chateau that are much more interesting and meaningful than the "hits" played on the radio. Funny how music can take one back to a place that were not the best of times but given time and perspective, seem much less dire today.

    Just a thought...

Could you lift Elton's Fingerprints and sell them as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT)???

You could raise more money for his charity!

Something to think about...people are selling everything these days...including this new NFT thing...

Thanks @Lakesammman! Actually, this little purchase drained my collectible holder fund at the time but a recent sale has helped replenish it.
