I don’t have a number one item for some reason. I guess I’m a bit looser with my want list. But the top items for me are the gold dollars I don’t have yet.
I haven’t gotten to the point where I have all the easily obtainable ones yet so it’s whatever I find first on the list that has great eye appeal.
Well there’s actually a few coming up for auction vey soon but prolly won’t
Get either one because prices are reaching the “I don’t feel comfortable stretching for” price.
Mine is pretty simple. I've never had a Trade dollar in my collection and am always looking for a nice frosty example without a ton of nicks and/or scratches.
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Out of fear that someone here may see what I want and bid me up every time I see one, I am not going to disclose it on a public forum.
But I will tell you No. 2 and 3 on my want list.
2. A C-mint gold coin PCGS XF-AU
3. A D-mint gold coin PCGS XF-AU (Dahlonega).
I have been looking for a $20 Liberty for my gold type set (which is AU55 to MS66). Looked at thousands of coins on line and in hand. Not sure what I really want. Perhaps a civil war issue, perhaps an early type 1 minted in San Francisco in AU, perhaps a common date later date in MS64 or so. I like the history and back stories on some of them.
At some point, a coin will speak to me, so far only a couple of them peep a little.

Let me know if you get one! It would be great to enjoy coins in the air!
If I had a pilot's license, a L-39 would be near the top of my list, but I don't have time for a pilot's license right now.
Unrealistic because out of my price range, but a 20 cent piece.
Realistic because I don't care about grade and will gladly accept something mangled as long as it's still identifiable: any US coin before 1832, which is currently my oldest US date.
As long as the year is visible, and no holes (can't stand them, but bent, cleaned, etc is fine) I will be happy.
I have a self imposed $20 per item limit that I rarely go over, so my options are limited but not nothing.
Easy enough that I shouldn't even put it on this list but I will anyway: Hubble Telescope dollar.
I read "1792 Silver Disme" first and the first thing I thought of was the PCGS FR02 CAC
Glad you're aiming higher!
@MrEureka, Don Kagin and I have already bought and sold the raw, VF details, damaged, subsequently net-graded PCGS VG8 Parmelee piece. There's no reason, based on the Copper Dismes, to believe otherwise than that the surviving three Silvers were initially made as Specimens.

I would like to find a well struck and preserved Roman denarius of the emperor, Pertinax. He ruled for only three months in 193 AD, but tried to be a reformer when Roman politics was at a low ebb. He was murdered because of his efforts as a reformer. May of his surviving coins are worn and poorly struck.

That is exactly what I love about coins. The story that goes with them.
Sorry I couldn’t resist. It was a funny like from the film, “Miss Congeniality” from many years ago. Many of the beauty Queen contestants used that line.

I've seen an empty house with a Ferrari 458 and Porsche Carrera GT in the garage.
I wonder if that's the owner's way of keeping his other half from knowing about it
Problem-free, honest wear, dateless, PCGS P01 1916 SLQ.
Still want the 1817/14 half but would settle for an 1827 O149 or 1829 O120.
