I define this range as 3-5, personally, as many 6’s start to look pretty high end, at least to me and especially of late.
So, let’s see the cards you love that are between VG and EX...

really nice mantle auto!
I dig that 68 Topps Posters Box Cut out--Yeah that's cool!
@lwehlers
I thinks that’s the same as the Exhibit (batting) but with the original background.
@GroceryRackPack
Thanks; I made it myself!

I thought the Cal was an 8-9 when I sent it in...one of those oops I missed something somewhere.
Here are a couple of my favorite mid-grade cards. Love mid-grade especially when they look like much better than assigned grade.

@JBrules
54T Aaron is one of the most beautiful cards I have ever seen.
Please DO NOT qualify it or tell me what’s wrong with it because it doesn’t matter. 😉
GREAT card!!!!
Congratulations

Great thread. Mid-grade, well-centered vintage is a good place to be.
Tim, mid grade vintage is the best!
It's a museum thread....needs more Mickey
10 years in the making, my T206 Wall of Fame.
Johnson with a trace amount paper loss and Mathewson with tape on back, both present as mid-grade.
One of my favorites
omg....great T206 collection! Colors really pop on those. Well done.
sometimes 5's look like 10's that is a scratch in the case on the right
@emar - a mix, with Mantle.
Hope that will suffice!

@Chicago1976
Thanks for the compliment!
IMO, t206 is the neatest, most colorful, and still somewhat underrated cardboard set.
It's a painstaking process waiting for your want items to get to market
Good post Tim. As you know, most of us Mick collectors without an unlimited budget rely on mid grade beauties Most of my set is 6 and less…
Bosox1976
All purchased raw in the 90's. I still think #2 is a 5

These represent some of my earliest not current at the time card purchases. All purchased raw (of course) when I was a kid in the late 80's.

Wow the Jackie R! Awesome.
Here are 3 of my favorites.
These are two I wish I’d kept. They qualify; can’t keep it all. 😉

This may be the only Mantle I have in a 6, @bswhiten . Bucked up for obvious reasons of player AND set.
And since any excuse to bring up the set is taken...😂
His two buddies from the set have pretty low pops and don’t surface too often; the Kramer is an “only graded example” 1 of 1 (for now).

5.5 too high? Lol
These are two of my favorites in my collection; The fence busters may be my favorite card!
Purchased raw. An odd ball, but a Babe.
Gehrig is a beauty
Great mid-grade beauties gang! Here are a few centered favorites in my collection...
Here are 2 48 Leafs for the pile
Some damn good cards posted in here so far.
I'm blessed to have a father who kept all his cards he collected in the 50s. Here's some mid grade stuff he's handed down to me.
I like them all!

1959 Topps Football need help finishing
Here are a few:
Great cards. That 1954 Topps Ted Williams does not look like a "1" to me...lol. OK, I have to ask....is there something on the back that drove it down? Creases?
I think I see a pinhole between l and d in ‘outfield’

Good eyes. Thanks @1951WheatiesPremium. That would do it.
Yup... pin hole. Beautiful card otherwise.
Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
Fixed that for you.

There is something very wrong with the name "Frankie" Robinson. It makes "Bob" Clemente sound completely normal.

Having been used on his Bowman card, the photo image is standalone beautiful but also shows you how talented these card artists were, too.

Some of these aren't really beauties, and some aren't mid-grade. At any rate, here they are:

@judgebuck Those are really nice. The Cobb especially. Any pre-war card is a treasure. 80+ years old. I wonder how many of us will reach those years and be welcomed the way we welcome and treasure those cards. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Great thread and some amazing cards. The 54 Aaron and the T206’s are from another planet!
