I've always liked the date 1908, so here are a couple nice Halves from the Philadelphia mint, exhibiting their handiwork 113 years ago.

Agreed, but dam I cannot take my eyes off of the first one, I wonder why
Dang! They are both gorgeous.
Is that a strikethrough between the date and star 13 on the MS example?

Good eye Tom, it's raised....It's a small die crack.
For a proof to have survived for 113 years in that state of preservation is amazing. I suspect it remained in the family collection of the original buyer for many, many decades, seldom if ever being looked at.
Absolutely right @291fifth . Somebody knew that was a special coin and tucked it away....The 1908 proofs are one of the more difficult dates to get in high proof grade, and most Barber proofs were scrubbed, cleaned, dipped, etc. So to have a PF-68 survivor, in original state....well....
Nice ones!
Few things beat original, mint state Barber halves. Very NICE!

Oh my, my! Merci!!
