Ken Griffey, Jr.

Just found out he will be playing in our BMW charity Pro-Am in Greenville, SC. Does he normally sign at events like this? I have gotten some pretty good autos from this event, actors, music and sports peeps.

I would ask the FB group. I have never heard any bad signer stories before though!!

in my experience, Griffey is a very tough in person signer. I have been to many Cooperstown induction weekends and every new inductee signs autos there as a brand new HOFer. everyone except Griffey. I have never seen him do a signing there. \

unfortunately, I wouldn't expect him to sign at a golf course.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Not sure on Griffey but some athletes basically ‘can’t sign’ due to clauses in contracts with companies like Topps or Panini.

Many do anyway but some guys are bound to their contract. I recall an athlete or two getting in ‘trouble’ over this, but not specifics.

Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

I recall hearing that he doesn't like to sign and is a notoriously tough autograph at a situation like a golf tournament.

Todd Tobias - Grateful Collector - I focus on autographed American Football League sets, Fleer & Topps, 1960-1969, and lacrosse cards.

Yeah probably not going sign a 12 board for some grown adult that is hanging around just to get as many auto's as he can. In Griffey's defense I have never seen a crappy auto from him...

The sigs on those look clean, not an issue with the signer. Did you get them IP?

i'm a golf graph hound and my .02 is that your chances of getting some fresh ink from Griffey in a pro-am event on a golf course is very, very high

the atmosphere is extremely laid back and non-golf athletes who are participating are generally quite accessible. often it's about being at the right place at the right time. if you really want him, find out where he will be prior to teeing off, follow him during his round, and definitely keep an eye on him after he is done. if you do those things, at some point you'll get him.

took me approximately 10 seconds to find this on the net....

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Yes, got them all at his first spring trainings 1989 to 1991. Waste of 6 months and 7 CC vouchers!

If those are authentic they are far from chicken scratch....... Some look good to me and some not

Which ones do you think don't look good? Hate it when someone fakes their own signature ;)

I was commenting on the fact they are not chicken scratch but I don't love 390, 391 or 392. I am not saying they are bad but I probably wouldn't buy them....

I'm assuming you say those three because of the pen stroke quality... I don't disagree. The bottom 3 were getting the the Auto graded, the upper 4 were just going to get slabbed authentic. The top UD has a good thumbprint, otherwise I would think it would be auto-grade worthy as well.
