It's kind of hard to see from the picture.

I’m sorry all I have is my iPhone. I took this picture last night.
I didn’t want to bring a mason jar full of what appear to be AU or CU coins to work.
I know it’s a good date. That wasn’t hard to figure out.

The photos just aren't good enough to make any judgement.

This two cent piece I know just from reading here is what you guys like to call crusty even though I am 100% certain it has never circulated. There’s no way.

  • MFeldMFeld Posts: 13,902 ✭✭✭✭✭

If the dime is FB, I can’t tell from the picture. And if the Two Cent piece is uncirculated and natural in color, I can’t tell from its pictures.

I think you need to affix your phone to a bracket so there's no shake. Zoom in, practice, check image quality before posting. Good luck. Peace Roy

Even if you can’t affix it, you can lay it on a glass or something like that so it’s completely still.
For the Merc, tour only FB concern is the middle bands.

Can you tell me how I myself can determine this? I will admit I suck at posting coin pictures. That’s very unfortunate because I just bought a hoard from an older women who told me she has nobody to leave them to and if I enjoy them give her $500. I said no problem. I then went back and gave her another $1000 I had to beg her to take it. She is very well off. Super wealthy. House on the ocean and another on the Vineyard where she spends her summer and does paintings. She is likely a known artist. There were two St. Gaudens in there so even though she offered them to me at her price tag I just couldn’t do it. I needed to feel better about this purchase. I believe I will be making a 3rd trip back to her.
I’ve got some really nice stuff in here. Someone was collecting proofs and unc coins in the early to end of the 1800’s.

Look at on line pictures of professionally graded FB examples. It’s usually not that difficult to tell.

Okay will do. In person they are very defined and I would call that they “belly out individually”.

The key to FB is there is no break in the demarcation between the bands. Cheers, RickO

@Endeavor1967 I hope you find time with all your posting to get in contact with me. I'd love to settle up on that colonial currency I sent you in January that you never paid me for. Although it seems you had no problem paying some woman for her collection. Also seems like you've blocked my number since it goes right to voicemail. Yet when I call from my work phone, it rings through.

I tried to keep this private but you're forcing my hand. Did you think I was just going to see you post and let it go without saying something?

Well this thread has taken a turn...

    My four cents:
    1. fully split bands on a Merc should be FULLY split. https://www.pcgs.com/news/mercury-dimes-with-full-bands
    2. Pay your bills
    3. You've got $4000 in St. Gauden's and yet you're still at only $1500. I know that was the woman's ask, but did you specifically tell her there was $4000 in gold in there?
    4. I hear "POOF" in the distance.

If your phone has a "macro" setting that could help for close-ups, but you'll still need to set your phone on something to minimize shake...

More often than not, 1916 Mercury dimes are full bands, so I'm going to say that they probably are full, but also that it doesn't really matter for an AU 1916 Merc.

I've tried handling this privately. He's blocked me or just not responded to multiple emails, voicemails, text messages and pms. He also found the time to post on here in the middle of all that. He really hasn't left me many options. I figured if he saw this maybe he would get the message.

Except this isn't going to work any better, obviously, and might just get you both warned or suspended.

It almost guarantees that nobody on the forum is going to want to do business with either one of you.

I don't know the whole story. It doesn't even matter what the truth is. I do know that capstick believes in public shaming. That is reason enough to not do business with him.

Would Heritage post a list of everyone with payment issues?

@jmlanzaf Im not into publicly shaming anyone. Endeavor, after 3 months of dodging and ignoring every source of contact I tried, decides to pop back on here and post not once but three different times.

He’s obviously checking the comments, which is why he hasn’t been back on. He knows I’m looking for him and this is becoming a thing. He didn’t leave me with very many options.

This was more of an attempt at getting his attention not shaming. If I wanted to publicly shame him, I would put all the details out there. I haven't. I would be more that happy to pm you what happened if you care.

I realize that this isn’t an apples to apples comparison, but hopefully, it’s a fruit to fruit one😉...
On an electronic rare coin trading exchange, if a member has written a bad check or otherwise not made a payment that was due, messages are often posted, to alert other members.

And you made the point “It almost guarantees that nobody on the forum is going to want to do business with either one of you.” I believe you grossly overestimated the number of people who wouldn’t want to do business with Capstick for posting what he did in the way he did it.

I've never had dealings with Capstick, but I've had many positive transactions with other board members both here on the BST, and in person at shows. The one commodity that's not negotiable in either venue is trust. I've mostly bought off the BST, but the sales I've done, I typically get paid first and then ship. I know there are trusting souls and some quite pricey pieces get transferred because we know collectively that we're "good for it"... trust.

Likewise, I don't know what recourse there is if someone ghosted me for a payment that should have occurred months ago...

    Collecting: Dansco 7070; Middle Date Large Cents (VF-AU); Box of 20;
