Seems I've been lacking in comments the past several weeks...but not because I haven't done anything
Quite to the contrary...I've completed 5 additional Proof Sets since the Annual Awards deadline and now have a total of 33 Top Rank Proof Sets...with the last 3 coins for another on order as of today
4 additional coins will complete 2 more...so they are a work in progress and funding
When I made the decision to start upgrading My collection from a best of PR69DCAM to PR70DCAM...I never thought or imagined I would be nearly halfway to perfection in just 15 months
That will certainly slow down quite a bit as the "degree of difficulty" to obtain most of the remaining coins in perfect condition is severely diminished by availability - nonetheless the hunt and quest continues
This particular Proof Set will probably never see a Gold Award...simply due to its content - and since the ATB program is now ended it's not likely to qualify
On 6/30/2021 I was the #1 Rank with 98.18% completion - but good enough to earn the only icon for 2021 - giving Me a head start on everyone else for a 10-year Red Ribbon
Was pretty surprised...until I checked the change details and saw 6/30/2021 AM as the start date - all other sets started later - was then I realized I wasn't 100% complete - but best of the Set so I got the only icon
My entire collection of Proof Sets was created by buying coins already graded...
I do have a very first submission for PCGS to sign for on Monday 8/23 - that coin will complete a Proof Set if it crosses over from an NGC PF70 Ultra to a PCGS PR70DCAM
I reserve this space for an EDIT to update the results of submission accepted by PCGS on 8/24
EDIT: 51 Business Days later it's Friday 11/05 - 9:32AM comes the CC billing for $59
I get the email - I can see the tracking info - coin's cert went active almost exactly 12 hours later
Managed to get over 70 sets started on the registry in the last couple of years. This gave me this year over 100 Blue and 5 Yellow. Late starter but leaving a lasting mark on the Registry.

Getting them added was a work in itself...seems the word "Basic" made PCGS decline the requests initially
But after some added data and reconsideration they agreed - still have 2 more Proof Sets to get updated
Sadly the new ranking likely won't last - My Sets are not completed to perfection...but I'll stay atop the Rankings until those below Me realize there has been an update
They'll prolly hafta get off the beanbag and put down the Cheetos
For some reason, coins previously added disappear. So, I added them again. In so doing, if affected your position. Sorry.
While doing so, I noticed that the top 3 all-time retired before the 2018 reverse proofs were added in the rating calculations. This means that all sets that currently exist or will exist will never be above the #4 all time position because they contain the 2018 reverse proofs and the pr70 reverse proofs have a lower rating than the pr70 DCam traditional proofs. In that respect, should there be an asterisk so that this is explained unless PCGS provides another solution? I am just a believer of full transparency.
"Retired Sets" has been argued many times in many threads...and PCGS is aware of how the rules have been manipulated far away from the initial intentions
Just like the additions of Rev Pr coins...it will get fixed - but sadly that day has not come yet
PCGS is dragging its feet...claiming an issue with the coding is not an easy fix - but I'd bet a college computer programming class could fix it over a lunch break on the campus lawn - for free

PCGS declined the Rev PR's in Basic Sets...claiming only the original coins were part of the Set...
I pointed to Set creation dates and the fact there were NO Rev PR's for them to exclude at the time
Which only furthers My claims that PCGS Proof Set oughta follow the exact format of US Mint Proof Sets...and only include those coins minted - and ALL coins minted as part of a Proof Set
2018 is a banner year...celebrating the 50th Anniv of the SF Mint and the 2018 Rev PR coins celebrated it
2 Set Registry Sets to go...and I think I will have all the exclusions added

It just makes sense...there are prolly a few good reasons to "Retire" a Set...but none of them are good enough for the Set to maintain a position in the ATF list that another Set easily qualifies for
Then there are examples of those who retired a set just to preserve the last ATF Top 5 position - several recent examples of this have occurred among avid and active current collectors
Retired Sets have worn out their welcome...and have become abusers - less than 95% - give em the boot - or better yet...No Retired Sets for composites with less than 1000 coins
A local college's computer programming class would likely correct the algorithm over a lunch break on the campus lawn - for free
