Has anybody noticed that the newer PCGS coin holder ring fluoresce a bluish color while the rest of the plastic holder remains clear?

Do not know when it started, but the current generation of PCGS holders, GEN6.1S,

"are formed using a specially engineered plastic that contains an inert additive. This additive is detectable only by a hand-held reader developed exclusively for PCGS. These readers have been provided to select PCGS Authorized Dealers to aid counterfeit detection in the marketplace."

The difference in "fluorescence", ring versus holder, could be due to the "inert additive" in the plastic that comprises the holder.

Are you using a UV light to fluoresce the ring? I guess I will visit the security portion of the website.. looks like they have added some excellent features. Cheers, RickO

No, its not a UV light but a fluorescent tube light.
