Found a 2000 P Cent Wide AM.

It's in rough shape but I found it in a penny roll this evening. I'm so new to this I am not really sure what it's worth.

    Welcome to the forum.
Yes! You got it! That's it alright. Worth maybe 10-$15? Esp in the condition. Nice find. Keep searching though for not only a better condition one but his two more valuable brothers. Lol The 1998, and the BIG brother. The high premium 1999. Welcome once again and don't be a stranger. We need more members here that seek for varieties/errors. - joey :)

Ugh! I find it hard to believe that anyone would pay more than face value for a corroded minor variety zinc Lincoln.

    All glory is fleeting.

@bwallac7 ... Welcome aboard.... Nice find, though the coin itself is in rather poor condition. Cheers, RickO

I've found a dozen or so each of 98 and 00, so far no 99. They sell on eBay (in better condition) for $8 to $10 each.

    Found a single '99 and a few '98 and '00

Want to say I got around $70 raw for the '99

If cashing in the pennies was not so aggravating, I would have continued the hunt.

I still check my pocket change. My anticipation always jumps a bit with a '92 and '99... lol

I would swear there is a wide, Close, and Middle AM for the '92... but I digress

So, how does a wide/close AM happen?

The wide am was intended for the Proofs, in those particular years. Also, there are varieties for the Proofs as well. Only opposite. Close am in Proofs are the variety. ;) Only in the 1998 and 1999's.

It can get confusing, but it is pretty basic.

Use the PCGS price guide images.

Lincoln Cent Resource website hasn't been updated (to my knowledge) in awhile, but is a good starting point and reference site for all things Lincoln cent related.

While it is indeed in rough shape (these copper coated zinc lincolns don't hold up well in circulation) it is still a nice find! You cant ever lose finding something at face value, right? Congrats, and we are looking forward to more of your finds
