Is there a way to remove the coin and capsule from the Reverse Proof Innovation Dollar packaging without tearing it apart? What have you done for coin removal?

    First, I don’t have any.

The Native American coin and currency sets I have came with a modified version of an airtite.

Look for a seam to carefully pry open.

I do not have one. However, I find it difficult to believe they would ship the coins with such an elaborate packaging that had to be destroyed to get the coin. Look for a seal on the capsule. Likely you can pop the capsule top off, freeing the coin. Let us know what you find... Cheers, RickO

Best bet is to open the capsule and remove the coin, then put the coin in another capsule. The capsule has a plastic brim inside the cardboard later to hold it in place, removing the capsule rips the cardboard.

This is what I was seeing. I am sure I can free the coin but to free the back side of the capsule I think I will have to rip the cardboard. Or at least try to pry the glued cardboard away from the back. I was hoping someone here knew a better method.

You can try steaming it a bit. Depends on how well glued it is.

Try placing a round cylindrical glass ( shot glass) over the top of the coin capsule. Find one that is extremely close to the capsule diameter. Place a smaller diameter ( like a stack of quarters) under the back of the coin capsule. Then place the other glass over the front of the capsule and press down slowly and evenly. This should stop the carboard from tearing.

I vote buying another capsule. Those are modified airtite type capsules with a much wider base.

Bulk airtite are not so expensive.

I just peel the cardboard apart carefully until I can pop out the capsule.

I just got these back from PCGS. I see they peeled the cardboard back to remove the capsule. I was hoping they would have just removed the coin and not removed the capsule from the cardboard. If I submit any more of these for grading I will not send in the packaging, I will instead remove the capsules myself. Just thought to share my findings.
