Why Bitcoin and Ethereum are so strong

In my limited research and trading of cryptocurrencies, I have noticed on most trading platforms, if not all of them, that in order to purchase the smaller (small market cap, less volume, light demand, low price) tokens, you first need to buy Bitcoin or Ethereum and then you can buy the smaller ones through BTC or ETH. I’m sure that this is helping to pump up the numbers for BTC and ETH. Does this theory have any merit?

BTC and ETH are the strongest because of their market caps and trading volume.

"he said that one of his key assumptions was that people like (Treasury) Secretary Yellen and Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, were some of the most informed people on the planet and that their perspectives were grounded in facts. However, in doing his analysis he discovered “just the opposite, that [bitcoin and crypto] weren't rife with illicit activity. I don’t think there is any area that you can put your money in that would generate the kind of returns were seeing in the crypto’s right now.
It is crazy what Ethereum classic and others like Doge are doing right now!
It seems the main entrées in crypto just tend to share and swap the lead. A little down, and a lot up. Still love the stoic appearance of my silver, though!

Because Bitcoin and Ethereum buyers are the most religious people in the world. They have faith in something that cannot be seen or felt, and are only valuable when there is power.
