If your images don't do justice to the coin then why bother us with them? If you can't see doubling in your own images then how are we supposed to. Damn thing got run over and destroyed, spend it.

Pareidolia (/pɛraɪˈdoʊliə/, /pɛriː-/) is the tendency for incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern or meaning known to the observer. Common examples are perceived images of animals, faces, or objects in cloud formations, or lunar pareidolia like the Man in the Moon or the Moon Rabbit.

Good afternoon everyone. I’ve scrutinized this coin and i found something. No idea how this could appear on this coin but here it is. There is a Indian head under Lincoln on the obverse and mixed with the memorial on the reverse. The rim of the Indian head can be seen coming through the back side as well as the one cent reverse marking from the Indian head cent.

    No.

I would respectfully disagree. My images don’t do any justice for me and you can’t see it from my perspective but from getting critiqued up here has made me a bit more disciplined in my verification. I get doubling wrong quite a bit bits is hard to misidentify something so obvious. For instance 2 parts of the l reverse rim that is actually the 5% of the larger obverse being rolled over. Plus the weight checks out

Okay ... I'll play ... the "weight checks out" as what?

no idea how this could happen: it didn't happen

and what memorial on the reverse? Also, I thought this was a dime reverse.

I love this comment. We know who this fits to a tee. Only he sticks to coin sightings. LOL and LOL again.

I'll second astrorat's question, the weight checks out as what? Remember the recommendation to study the minting process, so you know what is and isn't possible?

I appreciate the blatant honesty. Definitely not hurting my feelings by any means. I have glaucoma and binocular vision and can see unassisted the “one cent” in the reverse as seen in the fifth photo with the Indian head directly below. 🤔. As for the weight, it checks out as underweight from the other 93d i placed on the scale. I know I’m the new guy on the block with only the knowledge i gained in the past 3 months but I’m still running the race, i didn’t wake up at the finish line as I’m sure each of you did. If i wasnt me I’d be discouraged becausei hate being wrong above just about anything but Im motivated and will have my time to shine. I did my research and know who most of you guys are so i must humble myself, y’all set the standards, but i did make almost $50000 off pennies in a 3-4 months online alone. Not a typo either. Might be nothing to y’all but less than a year ago coins meant zero to me now i have every single year from 1898 on and only spent face value and $40. I’m here to learn as much as possible and to build relationship amongst the Community but y’all try to beat me . I’m still here to stay though.

Dude! (assuming you were assigned male at birth)

That's impressive. Only the knowledge you have gained in the past 3 months and you are on pace to earn $150K-$200K a year "off pennies" online alone?

Then why on earth are you asking us question? Clearly, you got it dialed in.

Why assume you are being talked to like a child? Starting with zero knowledge and within 3 months making $48K selling only cents is impressive. Heck, its likely better everyone else here did when they started as professional numismatists. Again, why ask us questions? If anything, you should be telling dealers here how to be more successful.

Well, the weight checks out for a normal zinc cent that has had the reverse removed. Can you explain what is strange about the 1998?

The perfect explanation for what I thought I saw on my quarter. I could have sworn I saw an alien or something but probably just good old pareidolia. ;)

WOW! I didn't know that variety existed.

I didn't know that the Mint used different colors.

    GEEZE. It must be rare.

It's not in Cherrypickers or Variety Vista.

I can't even spell or pronounce PAREIDOLIA.

Mar 9, 2014 i robbed a Wells Fargo because my local prosecutor hit me with 11 gun charges for some humbug bs and I’m home and have already attained my rights back not to mention represented myself and beat all gun charges. I still graduated college with two degree prior to robbing the bank. I’m not saying this because I’m proud of it but im not ashamed either. Just saying before you try to talk down to me try know who i am first. I would love to be a part of this community but with or without the knowledge i can gain here I’ll still make it. I been doing it by myself all my life anyway. I taught myself exciting i know reading and research. But please don’t talk to me like I’m a child because i had to be a man even when i was. All i ask

Well, the board really has been lacking a convicted bank robber that is not ashamed.

We can now mark that off the list.
