As some know I collect most things skull related. I also collect Knights Templar items. I have a cool Templar repo sword I use to swing around the loft and display it on a wall when I was single in Brooklyn. Now that I'm married it's in the garage under a box of old tax returns.

Anyways this Knights Templar medal has a skull dead center. Bullseye for me.

Here is how it looked in the NGC slab

Now it resides in a giant PCGS tomb. Normal size slab for comparison.

1890 Baltimore

Very cool. Does PCGS make a box for those slabs? :)

I know what you mean. I have a 33 degree sword my son inherited that's been in the closet for 30 odd years.

Truly difficult to find in that condition. Congrats. Also rare are the pieces with the original chain and pin/bar.

That would be cool. I have several medals in oversized PCGS holders but I'm pretty sure the sizes vary.

The other interesting thing about this medal is the mount.

Here is another Templar symbolist piece I find fascinating

That one has it all........Cool, graphic, design elements and rich, colorful toning.

The Knights Templar item is both unusual in itself and unusual for its exceptional state of preservation. It looks like an item that could have easily been damaged or worn during its 131 years! I've never seen one before.

    All glory is fleeting.

Awesome medal in a great state of preservation. Excellent holder by our host only adds to the allure. Peace Roy

Really nice items.... Love the story about you swinging the sword around, burning off stress.... One of my daughters collects skull items (she is in the medical profession) and I will alert her to watch for medals/tokens etc. Cheers, RickO

That’s cool! Any idea who made the piece?

Here is an XXXXL... it is a die for stamping the skulls for Knight Templar swords and uniforms from the Henderson-Ames company (from Kalamazoo and a part of my hometown collection) circa 1890-1900. It weights 7lbs. Wonder if PCGS Will holder it for me.

I've always been fascinated by the Knights Templar. I just might have to start looking for some of those.
