The 35 in the lower-right hand corner probably means it was purchased for $35. If so, he probably got a pretty good deal on it. It's hard to tell from the 2x2, but it sure looks like there are lots of hairlines and maybe even some wear/rub. A slider with issues would be worth maybe $40-50.
About 10 years ago; I saw a guy at a major show trying to sell a raw 1917 S reverse Walker for $5000 and it had wear. He claimed it was mint state 64 but it looked no better than a circulated 50 or 55. I was so incensed that I told him what I thought of it and he didn’t like it. Too bad. Be careful out there, kids.....

Does the right side of the 2x2 say it's the "... only one left"?
Not sure to be honest, funny thing, within 5 minutes of shooting the picture and posting this thread, I sold it over the counter, in that very holder, for $25 to a walk-in that needed a cheap Peace dollar.

You lost BIG money on that coin.
Why, the holder alone is worth more than the coin itself.

Tell them you’ll pay double if PCGS agrees and slabs it as a 66

Pre-TPG days, I wouldn't have had much to do with the hobby, not with real money anyhow.
Yeah if it weren't for all those pesky marks and a little circulation it would be a 66 easily.
Collector, occasional seller
At least they got the price correct.

If that's a 66, my collection just tripled in value.

If it were a different, much better coin it would easily be a 66.
