Thank you for your service. It is very rewarding. Especially so since my son followed in my footsteps. He now has 19 years in. He just made asst. chief at our counties only paid/career dept.
Retired from law enforcement this year, started law enforcement in 1982, married a parole officer and she still works! Started collecting in the 60's, had about 1500 coins (and several hundred toned) stolen about 2004, got out at that point and got back into it last year. Ebay is not the same as it was when it started!😮

After hearing all my stories and seeing my pictures he finally got to experience it. He hasn't missed a year since. Now if I could just get him interested in coin collecting.

26.5 years and a long 3.5 to go assuming VW/Traton let's me get there...a merger is taking place w/Navistar aka International Harvester and will be finalized no later than 7/1/21. We also train operators on their jobs, Job safety audits, ergonomics and listen to lazy people whine about how hard their job is. I can honestly say I can build just about any class 4-8 from the ground up ... OK, maybe 85% of it haha and have ran at a minimum 120+ jobs on my own over the years.

Started with Michigan Bell in '75 while still in high school. Also worked for Ameritech, SBC and AT&T so only worked for 1 company for 46 years (not counting the short 18 month layoff in '77). Dinosaur that works in the wire line side of the business. For the most part, the last one with specialty in DS1 and DS0 testing systems. Enjoy what I do and the freedom attached to my position but the end is near.
Started collecting in mid 70's but sold off everything in mid-80's. Got the fire re-lit with the hobby about 10-12 years ago.

Software engineer in the healthcare industry. If you've picked up a prescription from a pharmacy there's a good chance it was sent using the software I've been working on for the past 18 years. Ph.D. specializing in satellite imagery interpretation. Around 15 years ago, thank the good Lord, had enough scratch to retire, and decided I wanted to give back and teach math and science at public schools. At that point ran into the great god of CA. bureaucracy, where I couldn't teach K-12 unless I got a teaching credential, which is essentially a Masters degree. Needless to say, this all seemed rather absurd, particularly as CA. was/is shorthanded for teachers who can teach math/science.
I decided to teach for a bit as a substitute teacher (all you have to do is pass a test to get Emergency Credentials), to see if I liked teaching enough to want to waste a couple of years going back to University to get teaching credentials. Found out I enjoyed being a substitute teacher, as I could set the days of the week I wanted to work, didn't have to put up with the politics of the parents, and didn't have to put up with the politics of the school. So, I've been a "substitute" teacher for 15 years now.

This hobby keeps me occupied and sane in my retirement.
