1994 Half Dollars

I am opening 2 boxes of Loomis half dollars and every roll has at least 2 and some up to 17 "new" looking 1994's. Did I miss something? I have never seen anything like it. Some really nice 1993's and some nice 1995's but so many 1994's I think something up. Also no silver yet.

Anyone else have this happen to them. I'm in Eastern North Carolina and I think we get our coins from Raleigh.

Possibly a dump of brand new haves from the mid 90's that were saved right after they were minted?

My last box of halves had a higher amount of new 95 P's. Someone had to do a dump of them. Probably what happened to yours.

Some collectors buy the bags from the mint, then, after searching them for high grades/errors, let the sit around for years... then dump them at a bank. Cheers, RickO

Buy, search, save and then redeposit to restart the cycle over again. I used to do this with the State quarter programs starting in 1999. I bought canvas bags( still have these), compiled mint rolls and circulated rolls. Due to a family crisis and the need for $$$, to the bank they went. The bank wasn't happy as face value exceeded 6 K. I would do the same exact thing today if the need were to arise again. :)

They may have been just sitting around in the storage area of the federal reserve. This happened to me and my dad in 2003. We got a bunch of 1991-P rolls in a bag. At the time, these were one of the more valuable dates, but soon afterwords the value dropped quite a bit. I figured that was because of the release of more1991-P halves.

the 90's can be especially common in boxes. they are low relief with spaghetti hair and are disappointing to see. tho, they also have some die clashes and over polished dies.

I noticed the bottom half of the 4 was faint on most of them.

Who knows? I have searched many boxes of Kennedy half dollars, and have seen all kinds of conditions of the coins, the only thing that's been lacking lately is silver.
