This is one I’m really looking forward to, and am willing to pay the ridiculous premium. I hope they plan for the demand, which will be substantial.

It's always a mixed bag. If they restrict the mintage, it becomes hard to get. If they don't restrict the mintage, it'll drop to melt value in two years.

I’m not so sure. Prime example is the 2016 gold mercury Dime.

I just hope to finish my Capital Holder.

Will you start a new one with the 2021 type 2?

I’m not so sure. Prime example is the 2016 gold mercury Dime.

Prime example of what? It had a limited mintage of 125,000. Not tiny, but not extreme for what it was. It has held its value but that almost makes it more the exception than the rule and it was helped by gold going up 50%.

But looking at a one off commemorative issue is apples to oranges. An AGE is part of a series. In 2016, the same year that the dime came out, they issued 925,000 1/10 oz gold eagles. Those sell (retail) for $75 over spot just like every other 1/10 oz AGE. The proofs were around 20,000.

So, do I think a 125,000 mintage AGE will hold its value? Probably not because there's going to be a huge premium on these.

    [IMHO]

So, do I think a 125,000 mintage AGE will hold its value? Yes. But that is an extremely limited mintage that will result in a 10 minute sell out even with an HHL of one. If you want it to be easy to get, you're going to need a mintage of 500,000+ and that will result in a coin that doesn't hold its value very well especially if they do it with the usual $200 premium over spot.

    [IMHO]

I don’t consider 125,000 as very limited at all. I’d be happy with that, along with a HH limited of 1. Perhaps they’ll take preorders, which would also be fine with me.

Sorry, I was looking at the MS eagle mintages. Yeah, 125,000 would be a large number and guaranteed to not be worth the premium. The 2016 proof was more like 20,000 and is barely above bullion now.

It couldn't be the same coin/finish since there's a 16.2k mintage limit. And 8k product limit for the stand alone and 8.2k product limit for the 4 coin set.

Since it will not be available until the summer, it is most likely a set of the two type reverses.

A lot of speculation about the new coins this year... gold and silver. Should be interesting once the dust settles and we know mintages/finishes/etc. Cheers, RickO
